Earlier today, Facebook released some much wanted information on the Oculus Rift, the next step in gaming. The Rift will sell for $600 and will be out in March. As of now, there is no exact date except for that it will be released before March 31st, which means we are less than three months away.

What are your thoughts on the release and price? I feel that $600 is a lot, but that's about on par with other systems when they come out, and after hearing about the Rift for so many years, I'm kind of surprises that its finally coming out so soon.

zanderlex : I mean this type of gaming device is pretty revolutionary and high-tech so I can see why it's a large price but $600 does seem a bit excessive maybe because it took so much money to make it? And I really would want to buy this yet I probably never will have enough money for it. I've seen many video of people recording using it and I love how it goes exactly where your head and eyes are to me this type of gaming is bringing even closer to bigger and better Virtual reality sets and I the design might not look that cool I mean a big chunk of data chips and what not on your head but it's still very amazing. And to me I really thought they would at least keep it for another year in development but I hope they are right with their choice of setting it out now.

deg2000 : Well, ir isnt really all that much when you compare that price to other big consoles when they first came out, I mean the PS3 was also $600 when it came out and that was 7 years ago. I also thought the rift was still a long way away so its cool that it is coming out now, and hey, a year sooner release date means a year sooner until the price drop so that's good, right?

Also, hopefully the Rift can keep up with the competition like the Playstation VR and the other PC based VR devices.

That's great to know thanks for keeping up with that information. Like I had mention before, $600 to me it's still a lot to spend on a system; however, this is just more than a system so I do understand the price and given all that it can do and how far ahead it's pushing the envelope, I am actually surprised that it's under $1,000. Again, I'll wait to see if this price goes down, don't mind waiting a bit for it or not. But the internet videos of it is driving me crazy so I got to hide my income tax money before I end up running to buy one.
