So, I have a bunch of paperwork to fill out and once I get that done, I have an interview next month on the 21st. If I pass that and an evaluation I will start my training to be a Traffic Enforcement Agent.

I'm curious what traffic enforcement agent does.  I'm assuming writing tickets for parking violations, which is an important job and helps finance the school systems in the local towns and cities.

Good for you finding employment.  The trick now is to learn as much as possible, meet as many people as possible, and put yourself in a position to develop your resume, hone your skills and workable traits, and find the next step.  It's never wrong to be looking for what's next.

In fact, after a month of showing up and learning about everything, find out how much more responsibility you can get.  Us manager types love to hear about our staff looking for more and trying to develop themselves.  It's a good way to separate yourself.

zanderlex : My end goal might be to take the supervisor exam and then direct the level one workers on where they will be reporting and working on that day. Again, there's many paths I can follow and I can even branch out from the traffic department towards the regular one. 
I can even go to different careers in the government like fire fighters or sanitation workers or even go into other states then NY and no matter what I do, it'll all count towards my pension. I won't have to start my years until retirement over with a job change.
