In this competition you will try to draw the best Christmas themed drawing in Mario Paint:

Every year I have a Christmas drawing competition for a different video game that has some sort of drawing mode and this is the second year we've used Mario Paint for this annual Christmas competition.



Rules:
-The drawing needs to be Christmas themed in some way
-No more than 3 submissions per a user
-Be sure to give each of your submissions a title
-You MUST use the Vizzed RGR Plugin to take the screenshots
The Screenshot you submit has to be a screenshot you took with the RGR Plugin and the URL of the image has to be the same url of the image of the screenshot you took, you cannot upload your screenshot somewhere else and use that as your submission, you have to use the actual url of the images that were uploaded when you took the screenshots.
-If you can get the mouse to work, you may use the Mouse enabled version of Mario Paint found here:

(you have to make adjustments from the menu and it only works in IE and FF)

TIP: You have to click Mario with the A key in order to start
TIP2: Although the original game required a mouse, this version you can simply use your keyboard arrows (or controller d-pad if you're using a controller)



BONUS: If you rank in the top 2 and recorded yourself making the drawing then you're eligible for a cash prize on top of the Viz prize. 1st place would get $25 and 2nd place would get $10. You can record with an external recording program but if you want to record with the RGR Plugin, you'll have to play the game using Mednafen.

Dahaka : I look forward to seeing what you come up with this year. I think you'll like how I'm going about the voting this time. Basically it'll be part of the Music stream where I'll show the submissions from this competition and users can vote on the submissions. This will be a great way for more users to see your amazing submissions and also a great opportunity to get your more praise.

Keep in mind that this competition ends on the 23rd so there's less time to compete compared to previous competitions.

What can I say David? sincerely I wasn't expecting this treatment, really, I'm stunned. And now I'm more than hyped for see the Music stream (I have to say that I'm a little nervous too). Thank you so much!

Also, does recording get you both the Viz AND the money? And if you didn't record do you still get the money option, to not get viz, but get money instead?

I can honestly say I've been waiting for this competition all year long. This is possibly my favorite one! I can't wait to get started!

And I can't wait to see what you make, Dahaka. Your art is always incredible! Maybe someday, my Mario Paint works will be a contender. I'd best keep at it!

I'm always excited to see the submissions for these art contests using Mario Paint. Really cool to see how creative some of you get. I wish I was that artistic. I've just never been. I might submit an entry but I doubt it will do well lol.

Davideo7 : I like that idea. Sounds like a good plan to get some of these users more recognition for the cool work they do. Hopefully I will be able to attend that live stream!

Jordanv78 : Some of these users invest a ton of time into their submissions so I definitely think these submissions need to be seen by more users. I know that Dahaka invests up to 10 hours per a submission sometimes.

Davideo7 : It doesn't surprise me that they spend that much or more on them. Heck, I'm amazed at how great the pieces are considering they are using MARIO PAINT. Not Photoshop or something lol

Jordanv78 : What amazes me is how some of their pictures look as good (and maybe even better than) any cutscene or graphics seen on an SNES game. Seriously, Dahaka and NeppyLeet could've been professional graphic designers for SNES games lol.

Davideo7 : I know! I remember last art competition I was just looking at them like "how the heck..." ultimately it just makes me feel worse regarding my lack of artistic ability in that regard.

Still though, i'm really excited so see what sort of cool stuff is submitted.

Jordanv78 : You and I both, Jordan. I have such great ideas, but my best way to ever make them real is through writing. Oh well.

Here's a random little bit of push for you to compete: I'll do a full recording of me making a piece myself for this competition, provided I have time (which I should have after Finals), if you end up going through with it and make a piece yourself.

Even if you don't, though, I still might submit something for this so it's not really that much of an incentive or anything...

Just to clarify, for those of you trying to get the mouse to work in this game, try this.
- Start up the game using ZSNES.
- Press ESCAPE on your keyboard to bring up a keyboard.
- Click on config, then devices.
- Enable the mouse by clicking on the circle beside MOUSE.
- Press ESCAPE twice.

The mouse SHOULD now work. If the mouse isn't working, ensure:
- Your on either Internet Explorer or Firefox.
- Make sure that you use ZSNES, it may work on other emus, but this is the easiest.

This is my first submission

Title: The Brightest Star



This is possibly my most ambitious drawing, 15 hours of hard work.

I'm actually surprised that we are more than half way through the month and there aren't more submissions, although the top artists are probably waiting till close to the end to perfect their drawings for submission!

I'm very excited to see what everyone's done so far!
