Introduction: Well well, what do we have here? A weird NES game? Noice. It even has the origin story of geeogree in it :’D (dun kill me geeo)

Controls and stuff:

Control pad: Moves the boy.

B button: Whistles for the blob to come to you, and also gets him out of transformations.

A button: Throws the Jellybean selected.

Start button: Starts the game, and also pauses the game.

Select button: Selects Jellybeans

-----

Top left of screen: What your score is

Top middle of screen: How much treasure is left.

Top right of screen: How many lives you have.

Bottom of screen: The Jellybean you have selected and how much you have of that Jellybean. It also says PAUSE when the game is paused.

Bean Guide: This area will refer to jellybeans. The beans give the blob specific powers, and it’s the main mechanic of the game. The beans will be listed in order based on what order the select button selects Jellybeans, starting with licorice, except for the last two because you get the later in the game.

Licorice Jellybean: You start out with 72 of them in the beginning of the game. It turns the blob into a ladder, and it’s used to get to higher areas.

Strawberry Jellybean: You start out with 15 of them. It turns the blob into a bridge, and is used to get you across gaps since you can’t jump.

Coconut Jellybean: You start out with 6 of them. It turns the blob into a coconut (dur), and it’s used to throw. And not much else, at least not from what I could find.

Cola Jellybean: You start out with 18 of them. It turns the blob into a bubble, and it’s used to traverse water without drowning.

Cinnamon Jellybean: You start out with 24 of them. It turns the blob into a blow torch, and it’s used to burn stuff.

Apple Jellybean: You start out with 12 of them. It turns the blob into a jack, and it’s used to bump things.

Vanilla Jellybean: You start out with 30 of them. It turns the blob into an umbrella, and it’s used to protect your head from falling stuff, and decreases your falling speed.

Tangerine Jellybean: You start out with 42 of them. It turns the blob into a trampoline, and it’s used to bounce onto higher areas.

Root Beer Jellybean: You start out with 6 of them. It turns the blob into a rocket, and it takes the boy to places he’s never been before :’) (aka another planet. Look at After Treasure Hunting part for more)

Honey Jellybean: You start out with 52 of them. It turns the blob into a hummingbird, and it allows the blob to be more versatile.

Ketchup Jellybean: You start out with 6 of them. It makes the blob appear wherever you throw it.

Punch Jellybean: You start out with 54 of them. It turns the blob into a hole, where you would use it to fall down floors.

Orange Jellybean: You start out with 0 of them, and acquire 45 of them with the second jellybean bag. It turns the blob into a vitamin blaster, and you use it to shoot vitamins.

Lime Jellybean: You start out with 0 of them, and acquire 2 of them with the second jellybean bag. It turns the blob into a key, and you use it to (what else) unlock doors.

Actual Walkthrough:

(The guide will be split into two parts. Treasure hunting, and after the treasure hunting. This is just to make it so the guide is easier to use.)

Treasure Hunting: When you start out, go two screens right. Go down into the subway (press down), then go one screen right. Use the Punch Jellybean, then fall down the hole that you’ve made. Now go one screen left. Use the Licorice Jellybean near the ledge with the treasure, and then grab the treasure. Woop, now you have some treasure! 21 left to go :’D.

Now go two screens to the right, and use the Punch Jellybean near the left of the screen (if you don’t, you might fall on an enemy, and on another screen you’ll probably fall to your death). Now call the blob, but DON’T stand below the blob when you call him. You’ll fall down another hole and die if you do . Now use the Vanilla Jellybean to get an umbrella, then go under the worm thingy to get some treasure. Go to the right three screens then fall down the hole (if you don’t have the umbrella, you will fall to your death). Now get the treasure to the right, and use the Cinnamon Jellybean to burn the spider web (if you walk into them, they kill you :o)

After the spider web, there are falling rocks. Use the Vanilla Jellybean to get an umbrella to protect your head. Don’t run into the rocks, or you’ll DIE >. There are two screens of rocks. After the rocks, use the Strawberry Jellybean to make a bridge to get across the gap to the treasure. Make sure not to get hit by the worm...thing (let’s just call him worm). Now call the blob back, and fall down the hole. Now go to the right for two screens, and drop down. Use the Tangerine Jellybean around 2/3rds of the screen to get the diamond up there (hold up to bounce higher).

Now use the Punch Jellybean to the left to drop down on the left ledge, and go to the left and get the treasure that the worm is protecting. Now have the blob fall down, and stand under the blob to go down. Now go left one screen, and use 3 Licorice Jellybeans to get some more treasure :3. Remember to place the ladder inside the platform, or the blob won’t be able to follow you ;-;.

Drop down the ledges one by one (or you’ll DIE), and use a Punch Jellybean around the left of the screen. Now go left one screen and use the Tangerine Jellybean in the middle. Bounce to the top of the screen, and fall to the left. Use the Honey Jellybean to allow the blob to follow you, then go left one screen, and drop down a ledge. Get the treasure to the left, and then have the blob drop on top of you in hole form to drop down again, and get another treasure to the left. Stand below the blob AGAIN and fall down the hole to get ANOTHER treasure on the right. Now use the Vanilla Jellybean and go left. Fall of the ledge to the left, and go left to get another treasure, though now it’s a Jellybean bag :o. People these days, treating Jellybeans as treasure >.

Now go one screen right, and fall down. Go one screen left and fall down, moving to the left (avoiding the worm). You will see water. Now it’s time for the most dreaded part of the game, the underwater section ;-;. Use the Cola Jellybean, and get into the bubble. Then get into the water. Go two screens right, then go down through the opening to go deeper into the water. Go to the left first to grab a treasure. Now go to the right, staying around the bottom of the screen because eventually there will be a spiked ceiling. The spikes will pop your bubble, and you will drown :o. After the spiked ceiling, go one screen down.

There will be a treasure. Surrounded by spikes. Just try to slowing and carefully get near the treasure and grab it. This is probably one of the hardest treasures to get. Don’t worry though, if you die AFTER you get the treasure, you will still have collected it. After you get the treasure, go up one screen and go a screen to the right. There will be THREE treasures on this screen :o. There will also be ANOTHER THREE treasures in the next screen to the right. Now go back to that opening you came through to go deeper in the water, and go to the left and go back on the edge to the left.

Now it’s time to get out of this sewer! Use a Licorice Jellybean to go up and then a Strawberry Jellybean to cross a gap, then go to the right. Use a Tangerine Jellybean VERY close to the ledge up above, and land on the ledge to the left near the ceiling. Now go one screen to the left and use a Ketchup Jellybean to use the power of AMAZING TELEPORTATION. Use a Licorice Jellybean, go one screen right (you can’t use the ladder on the same screen you climbed up the first ladder, unfortunately), then use another Licorice Jellybean. Go one screen to the left and use a Tangerine Jellybean to get the treasure floating in the ceiling. Wooo one treasure left!

Use a Licorice Jellybean to climb up the ledge. Now go to the right and use another Licorice Jellybean to climb up yet another ledge. Then climb up the ledges to the left one by one, until you get to the very top of the screen (there should be two blue ledges, and you should be on the one higher up.) go to the left and grab the Jellybean bag. This Jellybean bag will give you two new types of jellybeans :o (refer back to jellybean guide, Orange & Lime).

Go back to the right, using the Strawberry Jellybean to cover the gap, and then use the Apple Jellybean on that hole in the ceiling to pop out the sewer lid that’s preventing you from escaping the sewer ;-;. Now use the Licorice Jellybean to climb out :3. Now go all the way to the right, until you reach the store. We need to get some cheeseburgers 3. Wait what? We’re only getting vitamins? v-v that sucks…

Yes, the vitamins are ammo for the vitamin blaster you get from the Orange Jellybean. And with that, the second part of the guide begins.

After Treasure Hunting: After you get the vitamins, use the Root Beer Jellybean to turn the blob into a rocket and blast off onto the blobs native planet(?). Aliens do exist :o!

Next part is to get past all of these obstacles. First thing you want to do is to use the Orange Jellybean to get the blaster, then prepare yourself for shooting stuff down. Two screens to the right are bouncing marshmallows (this alien planet has dangerous food :o), and shooting them will make them disappear but respawn at the top of their bounce height and fall down faster for the initial drop. The next screen also has bouncing marshmallows, but bouncing in different intervals and dropping down a lot faster than before. The best thing to do on this screen is to find an opening and just run across without stopping. If you timed it right, you will make it.

The next two screens also have marshmallows. the first is easy enough, but for the second one, run across when the first set starts to go up. You will make it (if you don’t shoot at the marshmallows and change their bouncing pattern). The next screen has cherries, and if any of them reach the ground, you will die (the cherries also kill you if you touch them). Just go for the ones lowest to the ground first and then the higher ones with the vitamin with the lowest arc (Vitamin B, because it also touches the ground). Do the same with the next two screens.

Now, go four screens to the right. You will be in a corn field, and you will be dodging popcorn (someone must have a killer microwave). You can shoot them to break up the popcorn patterns, and that’s helpful for the first two screens (with Vitamin B) but after that you’d be better off at just avoiding them. And besides, since you have so little ammo for Vitamin B as it is, I’d personally just not shoot all together.

Note: There’s an easier way to do the above if you use the Coconut Jellybean and gain enough momentum by walking back and forth to throw the coconut all the way to the start of the corn fields, then throwing it again to get rid of all the popcorn. This is due to the way the game is programmed. (but doing this is cheating, kk )

Now enter the building that’s a factory to the right. When you enter, place the blob a bit to the left of the middle of the screen and then give it a Tangerine Jellybean. Then bounce up to the spontaneous floating candy cane in the air. Go to the right, and turn off that machine that’s dropping marshmallows(?). THIS GAME LOVES MARSHMALLOWS. Now use the Ketchup Jellybean to make the blob spawn, and give him a Vanilla Jellybean so that you can fall off the ledge to the right without dieing :’D. Now repeat all the instructions again in this paragraph (except for the entering factory part).

Wait what, a change of scenery? :o it’s all rocky!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3y0OGraOrpg
OKAY OKAY OKAY I’M SORRY

Now go to the right, and enter that random cave (so out of place). Go to the right for one screen, and random teeth. Try to avoid them the best you can. I tend to run across them when they go up one at a time. After two screens of random teeth, use the Punch Jellybean in the middle of the screen to drop down. Now go to the right to turn off a hershey’s kisses machine that can somehow defy gravity (if you went one more screen to the right before you used the Punch Jellybean, you will see random hershey’s kisses floating to the top).

Now use the Tangerine Jellybean right below the pot to bounce back up to the right, then use the Honey Jellybean (or the Ketchup one) to have the blob follow you. Now go two screens to the right, and there will be two more screens of random teeth trying to eat you(?). Is this even a cave? Now go three screens to the right, walking past random guard gingerbread men that don’t do anything to impede your progress. (I think this is a candy cave :v). See that key hole? Use the Lime Jellybean to turn the blob into a key and unlock that door.

Final “Boss”: Time for the final “boss” of the game! Somehow, when you unlocked the door, this… grey thingy with a crown locked up poor blob ;-;. First things first, whistle for blob to get him out of the key form (surely you’ve noticed that the blob can’t eat jellybeans in any form that’s not the normal one). Now “equip” the Apple Jellybean, and walk back and forth to gain momentum. Now throw the jellybean, but keep on walking back and forth, and time the throw so that you’re moving when you actually throw it. The Jellybean should go into the blob’s mouth, and he’ll turn into a jack, moving to the right and having the random jar with… metroids(!?) spill vitamins on the grey thingy (was hoping it was a metroid ;-; ), and now you have beat the game.

After an ending stating the end of the story, you are greeted to an ending screen with a random white guy… very odd. And with that,

After the spider web, there are falling rocks. Use the Vanilla Jellybean to get an umbrella to protect your head. Don’t run into the rocks, or you’ll DIE >. There are two screens of rocks. Get the treasure to the left, and then have the blob drop on top of you in hole form to drop down again, and get another treasure to the left. Stand below the blob AGAIN and fall down the hole to get ANOTHER treasure on the right. Now use the Vanilla Jellybean and go left. Nice walkthrough! Your use of differently colored letters is pleasing for the eye and very clear. Also, I think you had about the right amount of screenshots, and the game does look a bit ugly or weird when I see this
And I love that you included the Rocky theme! That was very funny.

Very well done, Tails! The different colored letters were a nice touch, and so were the screenshots. You did a great job on this guide Tails.

geeogree : Can you confirm that this is your origin story?

I wonder what the character limit on this thing is.

A user of this : I waited almost 20 minutes before replying to your post because of how funny it was.

I can't believe no one else has noticed this game or made a comment about it in relation to me.

ZeroTails : Great guide, Zero! Your guide is well written, very enjoyable, detailed and useful. I might even try the game out with your guide. Does the kid you play even have a name? I think Blobboy fits. This game definitely is one of the weirdest games ever, you need to dodge random teeth (what's that, lol), popcorn and dangerous marshmallows. Wow, the blob world is dangerous. I wonder how geeogree managed to survive it. :O

Oh don't worry, that happens to me as well. I'm too focused on typing things that I sometimes forget to take some screenshots so I know how you feel

Anyway, another great walkthrough Zero
