The question here's simple, who's your least favorite final fantasy villain? For me, it would have to be Xande from Final Fantasy III mainly because he's the most bland villain in the series in my eyes. None of the other villains in the series come close to being as bad as Xande is.

Seymour from ffx. He never settles down the like the guy keeps on coming back even though he is dead. I swear you face him amount of times before putting him to sleep once and for all. Or more like sending him to the farplane where he belongs. Whenever you see him its like this in my mind *Again? Like really? Why can't you peacefully die like the others do* maybe because he was like the main villain in the story so he had to keep on coming back from unknown areas. And least expected places as well. If you have played this game a lot then you will know when you are ready to battle him again in which area and stuff.

Eniitan : I admit that all those dead coming back to life are annoying, but it (kind of) makes sense in the context of the game. Hell, even the first summoner (Yunalesca) is still there!

gamerforlifeforever2 : I would make the scope wider and add all odd Final Fantasy except for 7. Their plots were weak, if not inexistant, and characters just happen to be at the right place at the right time. That does not leave much room for villain development either.

My least favorite villain from any Final Fantasy game would have to be Ultimecia from Final Fantasy 8. I hated the whole story about how "she traveled back in time, to change time, and now time is a world where all time lines are compressed together". It felt like garbled nonsense, and she was barely seen the entire game. It was just hearing "we need to be scared of her power" the entire time. And she was kind of a let down when you finally meet her...

I haven't played too many Final Fantasy games to completion, so if I had to pick one I'd choose the President of Shinra, both of them are really lame, and I would say some other things about them, but brackets hate me and my tablet.
They're certainly useless though.

Warning spoliers below for anyone who hasn't seen/played Final Fantasy 2.

So for me personally to like someone as a villain, they need to do something imposing and devious for me to hate them as a character and they need to last through the game.    That's what makes a villain so good, he gives the player various things to hate him about, he stays consistent through out the story and he ends up being a tough final boss.

I'm gonna Label the entirety of the Imperial empire as my least favorite villain,   why? Because their goal was to take over the Kingdom of Fynn, but they really didn't last that long before the rebels(The good guys) started foiling their plains.

Now usually a good villain would strike back, take a life of someone,  whenever their plan backfires they usually have a plan B.

But in this case the entirety of the empire did nothing when their Airship got blown up,  they didn't even bother to strike back at the rebels or set the castle on fire.

The only thing they did was arrest the group temporarily which is a really lame act.

Yes they did some things like attack the town when they had their airship,  they kidnapped Hilda and stuff like that but none of that even matters in FF2 when you realize they've been defeated so easily.

Even Leon who was the Dark Knight in FF2(who keep in mind, was working for the imperial empire) ends up teaming with the Rebels to take down the Emperor.

Don't get me wrong, I like Final Fantasy 2 as a game but the main bad guys suck at being villains.

I would say Kuja from FF9. Let us start with his appearance. He looks and dresses like a chick. He is a jealous little turd. He is whiny and thinks he is all powerful, but if memory serves,he never really got his hands dirty.

I kind a like almost all the villains in Final Fantasy series, but I guess Vayne Solidor from Final Fantasy XII is my least favorite, because they don't show him much in the game.. So there wasn't much time to start hating him, sure he did some nasty stuff to take control of Ivalice but that's it.

I noticed no one has said about Seph from FFVII - although his status as a bonus boss in Kingdom Hearts is... Well, he's one hard son of a gun, to put it mildly. Not to mention that he [Spoilers for FFVII which everyone kinda knows because you lose her due to him]!

Hun, I haven't given my two cents on this yet.

The villain in Final Fantasy III was completely forgettable. At least in Final Fantasy I, you could get a little feel of Garland and his evil intents. But in III, he just appears out of nowhere and I felt no interest whatsoever in knowing his story.

janus : You mean Final Fantasy III where it ends up being the brother of the main character who takes over the moon with the intent to conquer earth? Or my version of Final Fantasy III which is really Kefka, one of the greatest villain in Final Fantasy history?

For me, it was Guado, from Final Fantasy X. I never got his motivation, he wasn't anything special, and I had to sit through the four minute+ cut screen if he beat me on the mountainside battle. He wasn't scary, he wasn't compelling, the only cool thing was the music. After that....I was really unimpressed. Final Fantasy delivers better than that.

I absolutely hated Golbez from Final Fantasy IV, I just got a vibe from him that he wasn't the best villain ever, but that didn't stop me from believing that FFIV is the best game in the series in my opinion, even if it is just from nostalgia.

I would have to say that the Cloud of Darkness and Xande are among my least favorite Final Fantasy villains. Granted, some of the earlier titles lack the depth we've come to expect from the more modern ones, but there really isn't much to Cloud of Darkness and Xande. Cloud of Darkness just craves destruction and manipulates Xande to make that desire come to fruition. I don't necessarily Cloud of Darkness and Xande are bad villains, but they just lack the depth, backstory, and motives of other Final Fantasy villains like Sephiroth and Ardyn.

I don't remember their name or even which game they were from but so know that I hated them so much.

It was a PS1 game and I just couldn't beat them and I couldn't get past that point so after trying so many times I rage quit and stopped playing Final Fantasy for about a decade.

The guy from Final Fantasy XV, I forget his name. He wasn't particularly interesting, I didn't really like him as a character, I actually have a lot of issues with that entire game but I'll refrain from going into it too much. Overall that villain is just boring as heck and his motivation to do the things he does is dumb

Final Fantasy 3's villain would definitely be mine. Technically, there's two, and I'll talk about both of them. One of them wants to destroy the world, and his backstory is that three people were given gifts - one the gift of magic, one the gift of dreams, and the other the gift of MORTALITY. In other words, he's the master of dying and actually has a good reason to want to destroy the world. Once you destroy him, though, another villain shows up out of nowhere talking about destruction and destroying everything...I'd have much preferred if the first guy was the villain or if he at least was absorbed by the darkness or something, but he kinda just gets thrown out the window for a much less interesting villain that only shows up during the final dungeon and only has one attack.

Does the President of Shinra count? Because that person really wasn't very fun. But the tone of Midgar was pretty A+. And Barrett will always be one of my favorite characters. I only mention him because he helped with the tone.

Probably the final boss of final fantasy 4, I just kinda felt like he came out of nowhere all of a sudden and I really don't like it personally although I will admit it's appearance did throw me off a bit at first.

My least favorite FF villain is probably Kuja from IX or any of the villains from XIII's series.

They just fell flat, and were impossible to respect.

Kuja. I felt like the plot twist I’m FF IX was unnecessary and it just ruined the ending for je since I was so well invested in the game (bought it on switch). I mean I did enjoy the ending (not spoiling) and all but on topic, kuja was just swept aside like a useless tool

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
