I always say I like rock and hard rock; I guess metal is not quite there yet . Machine head was excellent; we could actually hear the singer sing. The two others were... too much like screaming.

janus : nothing wrong with that ^^ took me a while to get into metal. Started with In Flames myself, though with their most recent albums. They've gotten more into the regular metal scene and out of melodic death metal. I'd suggest listening to Siren Charms, Sounds of a Playground Fading and A Sense of Purpose. ASoP is tied for my favorite by them, the other being Colony, which is melodic death metal I also listened to Killswitch Engage's stuff from the Jones days (End of Heartache, As Daylight Days, and their self titled). It's finely tuned and has a nice mix of singing and screaming, for the most part

I was NOT a fan of the first song. Like Janus said, too much screaming.

I liked the Machine Head song - it felt like Master of Puppets from Metallica. Not sure how to describe it otherwise (the album not just the song).

Rest Among Ruins - like the first one - too much screaming into the mic. I've never been a fan of that. It doesn't feel like it takes much talent. At least this one had someone else actually singing. I didn't hear that in the bit of the first song I listened to. Still, wouldn't listen to the screaming for long.

All That Remains - I liked this. Not nearly as heavy as the other stuff. Feels a bit more like Linkin Park (as offensives as that might be to some people). I mean the vocals mostly. The instrumentation is heavier than most Linkin Park stuff. Still, I liked it.

Hatebreed - I guessed before even listening to this song that I wouldn't like it and I was right. Yelling lyrics just doesn't do it for me. It isn't much different than monotone speaking. There is no range to it.

Enter Shikari - this one surprised me. It is almost a hardcore/techno/metal mix which considering the guy sounded british almost makes sense. Still, a bit too yelly for me again although I bet there are other songs that have less yelling that sound good considering what I hear outside of the yelling portions.

I'm definitely going to favorite this thread and keep listening. I don't dig into too many genres of music because of a lack of time so this is great for me. I like adding to my music selections.

geeogree : Glad to hear you like it... well, some of it anyway. My advice to Janus still stands if you manage to find time and wanna get into the screaming stuff. I wasn't into it at first for the same reason, honestly. Me getting into stuff that like just kinda happened.

Anywho, I completely forgot to post for this past Monday. Fallout was coming out and that's what was on my mind. I'll just have to post twice as many songs this coming Monday

Rasenganfan2 : but I don't really want to get into it . I like metal but the screaming stuff doesn't do it for me and I don't want it to. I'd rather stick to heavier songs with proper singing in them than bother with anything that involves the excessive screaming.

I am still interested in what you post so please keep doing it and I'll keep giving my opinion.

geeogree : fair enough, man. I know that's not everyone's cup of tea. I definitely plan on posting at least one song each week that's mostly-entirely singing, so you'll still have plenty to listen to within your taste

One of my favorite Cradle of Filth songs:

https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=cradle+of+filth+bathory+aria&ei=UTF-8&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-002

Not sure how to post a video, but this is a great song

Alright, here we go: Metal Monday extravaganza! I missed last week, so I'll be doing twice the songs this week! In more of a radio friendly mood tonight, so expect mostly singing around the board

(50/50)
https://open.spotify.com/track/2A1cj9MUHz2ClwOY4hSPmT (no decent sounding youtube link, sorry)

(100% singing)
And for the grand finale, a band that I am very proud to say comes from my home state of South Carolina:

Spotify alt in case of audiophiles: https://open.spotify.com/track/7wZFyvANirSGT2YvQcKci8

Depending on how people feel about Spotify, I may just use it instead of YouTube to share songs. Much easier to ensure consistent sound quality on there than it is on YouTube. Let me know what you guys think! Hope you enjoyed!

I would've posted this last night, but this new layout is confusing me. There's no reply button from within the thread either. Someone, hold me. I'm scared.

From now on, just assume that a song has little to no screaming unless I state otherwise. Makes it easier for lazy, lazy me.

Rob Zombie - Scum of the Earth

P.O.D. - Southtown

Apocalyptica feat. Joseph Duplantier - Bring Them to Light (mostly screaming)

Killswitch Engage - Rose of Sharyn [live version that may be NSFW here] (mostly screaming)

I didn't get a notification for this thread when you posted - I set it to my favorites but it didn't let me know. I am disappoint.

My kids are all around so I'm not going to listen to those songs right now but I will get around to it. Maybe after you post again tomorrow but I still plan to. Also, I appreciate the scream warnings

Metal Monday is here, and you know what that means. As always, feel free to join in on the posting and post some of your favorite rock/metal tunes.

Korn feat. Skrillex - Narcissistic Cannibal

Breaking Benjamin - Crawl

All That Remains - Criticism and Self Reflection (50/50)

Killswitch Engage - Rise Inside (mostly screaming)

geeogree : no worries, man. Hope you like 'em. And I gave scream warnings starting in my very first post

METAL MONDAY, B****ES! YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS

I'm definitely in a very metal mood (metalcore to be precise), so every song I'm posting has screaming. You've been warned

Killswitch Engage - Fixation on the Darkness

All That Remains - The Weak Willed

Trivium - Into the Mouth of Hell We March (NSFW)

Avenged Sevenfold - God Hates Us (particularly NSFW)

Enjoy, metalheads!

PS: That last song doesn't even come close to reflecting my views. Just throwing that out there in case people start thinking that I'm a fedora-toting atheist

Sorry for posting late; was in a lot of pain and having internet issues yesterday. Let's get the tunes rolling, shall we?

Godsmack - Inside Yourself

Stone Sour - Gone Sovereign/Absolute Zero

Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell

Killswitch Engage (I know; 3rd week in a row. I can't help it, they released new music!) - Strength of the Mind (mostly screaming)

Not gonna lie - I lost track of my days. Christmas is here, my friends! Well, almost. It's here enough for me to forget how to tell time

Trivium - A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation (3/4ths screaming)

Evans Blue - Erase My Scars

August Burns Red - Mariana's Trench (mostly screaming)

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I want more Metal! I don't always listed to any or all of them but I do like the option of getting new music every week.

Trivium was "reasonable" screaming, in the sense that we could somehow make sense of what the singer said. Not my type, but the guitar is excellent

Evans Blue was not as interesting. It sounds more like rock than metal; even the guitar sounded less interesting.

Finally August Burns Red had an excellent intro. But yeah, the rest is screaming that is not pleasant to the ear (mine, anyway).
