I know this may sound like an odd request from the developers and all. . . but. .

I wish you could have a few more selections of clothing to where maybe. (like long robes, caps. perhaps another kind of helmet. . )

And some way in game to put custom designs on them without gong to far off the original material's colour palette.


I just think it would be cool that way so that. . . well, if you like RPing. (Like I do.) It's not like in a battle everyone shows up and. . .well, they're wearing diamond armour, and well. . .

Doesn't an army or group look much more unified if they all follow a similar colour scheme or bear the same symbol? I mean. . . I think so! It would be cool if it could be done! Everyone in my guild would by code have to make their military clothes be black, though they could have any side colour they wanted. They would have to make it look somewhat Uniform, but I would never make on armour design and say. "Everybody has to copy this!" That would be too infringing, and I think part of the importance of being part of a team is fitting in, and yet maintaining individuality.

ei. If me and user were part of the same guild/kingdom. We'd both customize our armour to be black, but we'd follow a similar basic design. (As far as putting the texture on our armour) and a general selection of colors, but we'd also put out own symbol on it. Ie, I would have. . .maybe a dark blue wolf. User would have a . . . parakeete. .. .

I guess one more idea I had that I should be sure to mention is robes. . . you could wear them and whenever you pressed E to go to your inventory and crafting menu. . .you could input a check box that hides your face, making it look black and it also hides your name tag.

How do these ideas sound?

Dude, that's what skins are for, you just draw what you wear. Plus the windows 10 version does have a bigger selection of them, that you can either buy or are free, like I wesr the stranded on an island clothes.

That's why I wish you could re customize your armor. . . I could play the black knight a lot cooler then if I didn't have to go around armour less all the time just to look the way I want too. . .

There may be something about the windows 10 version for that too. This version has like 100 more things than standard Minecraft and gets more things every week so maybe.

Thats... Very possible to do with the use of a mod(s), although I would have no idea where to start in terms of programming it. The farthest I ever got with making my own MC mod was a texture pack which included textures for some mods I used at the time and a player skin :p

Just to get a clearer picture in my mind of this potential mod, do you want the custom armour to layer the same as the current armour in game? If thats the case than the mod wouldn't be extremely difficult to make. Or do you want the mod to apply the armour to the character skin, or even go so far as to change the model like most modern RPG games? If thats the case then a rewrite would be in place for a lot of the games programming. That would be becuase you would have to find a way to implement a way to change the character model in online mode... You would also have to go through the process of making new models and texturing them which is, while not to difficult, very tedious. As for removing the name tag?.. That would be a server side mod since it affects how everyone online at the time sees your character. Shouldn't be too difficult to do that one since it (if my limited programming knowledge is right here) is told to change the nametag to visible/invisible when you unequip/equip the custom armour.

I'm with chindogu, lol. Definitely possible, but I have no idea how to code that kind of mod.

However, it is very easy to use dye to change the colour of leather armour. Theoretically, we could dye leather armour to specific colours per team, and then just enchant the crap out of it to make it stronger. That's a mod-less potential solution...

Yeah, I would like the custom armour to go to the same layer as the armour that's already in the game. That's what I was going for.

mrfe : That's the thing though. . . leather armor is weaker. . . and well, even when dying it. . .you can't put custom designs down, and, well, honour and the identity of a knight. (At least in my eyes.) are very important. The banner and symbol of a beknown warrior should strike fear in the enemies eyes! But. . .I think you get the jist.

I've felt the same way for a long time.  Something other than the name floating over your head to help identify you in situations where multiple people show up in the same armor would be very welcome.

It seems to me that with all the skins available in the game, it wouldn't be difficult to add emblems to armor to help them stand out.  Using dies to help tint your color different colors would be welcome as well.

All of that said, I tend to play Minecraft solo, or with my kids (Who are three, so needless to say, they do not put a lot of thought into anything except "hit this block until it breaks" or "Put this block here." And since they started playing with me, I've mostly been playing in "peaceful" to avoid the occasional creeper visit.) So there's rarely any call for differentiating our appearances.

And while I've seen some incredible mods online that allow players to do some really neat and amazing things, I own the Xbox 360 version, so I don't have access to those mods.

Now, you've got me thinking about Minecraft again, . . . I blame you for the dozens, if not hundreds of hours I'm inevitably going to spend playing it in the coming weeks.    I've got a Corellean Corvette (FarStar Style) that needs completion.

sword - To be fair, as an admin on the MC Server, I could easily enchant leather armour to be as powerful as diamond armour there. You're right regarding distinguishing marks, though, there's not much we can do about that.

If you find a server plugin that would help with that, let me know. I'll do some research on it and bring it up with David.

Yeah. . .I know that feeling. . . . I had to watch an awesome trilogy of Minecraft fan videos. To me it's almost more fun and interesting to watch other people make stuff that do it myself. If I could do what I wanted and wasn't afraid of the amount of time it would take.  . . I would be building a Cornerian Base out in the sea, and be filling it up with Arwings, Green Eagles, and other fighters of my own imagination based on the original Star Fox 64 designs. XP

AAaaah yes. Many good days with my siblings on our XBox 360. That version of minecraft doesn't have all the stuff that I wish it did, but it's suitable for four player at least. Hopefully I won't came back to you complaining for the same reason. I have to many things to do. I can't get carried away in Minecraft! XD
