You train in any? Why?

I trained some Mantis under an old man some years back, and currently train BJJ.
Mostly cause I like fighting, but I also like a decent work-out.

I used to train with Shotokan Karate, mainly as a good workout. The self-defense part was interesting too; it is not much different than defending with a lightsaber . I had to quit because my shins were cracked (things you can only see with high-tech scans) because of my high arches.

When I was younger, I really wanted to take martial arts lessons so I could learn to defend myself, however, my parents wouldn't let me. Now, I just don't have the time to learn any martial arts unfortunately. I do wish I could've had a chance to learn some though.

I used to train Judo, but the local we were training in was pretty bad, so I quit pretty soon. There were dead flies everywhere, and there were no real dressing room. I didn't train for that long, but my friend told me their tournaments didn't follow the rules very good, and I think there were more bad things, but I can't remember any right now.

I've trained boxing a bit more when I was a kid, since my grandpa is a boxing trainer and got his own club. While it was pretty fun to punch people in the face, "kid me" sadly lost interest afters some time. I might be interested in picking it up again in the future, though.

A couple of years ago, I did do a little bit at the Tiger Schulman place for a while. O did it there for a bout a year and I think I learned a good amount from them but the price was too high and I had to stop going, even though it was really cool. I would go every week for once day for about an hour or two.

NumaBushi : I'm curious.  You're 21, you're a young man, you may have had some work in martial arts.

You like fighting?  How many real fights have you been in?  How practical was your training in an actual bar fight or at a sporting event or club?

I have bits and pieces of fighting styles, but no I have not trained in a discipline in many many years. The closest I come to training is going to the gym and heading to the boxing room. Nothing fancy, beat on the speed bag a bit,do a little footwork on the bag, even if I cannot kick high. Then some punches on the bag and then I proceed to my regular work out.

When I was younger I was a black belt in Taekwondo. I got as high as 3rd Degree Black Belt or "Third dan"

but to be honest, I haven't trained much in it in years. Just because of busy life and things like that. I would like to get back into it though. Just a matter of finding a place that I like that isn't an arm in the leg to train at.

Ever since MMA got so popular, these places started getting a lot more expensive than they used to be.

I've always been interested in martial arts but never had the opportunity to train in any.

I would like to take Aikido, but I worry that I couldn't find a place, or that it would be full of kids and I would feel outta place.
