Canned response idea is ok but its not solving any problems because david would still be getting tons of PM's while the rest of staff get none which basically makes it completely pointless. I mean we could set up canned responses for each staff rank so it makes it easier for other staff to answer the same questions. But the canned response idea alone will not fix your PM problem.

If we want to fix the system we have to force the users into into a survey. Else I don't expect any of them to send PM to the right person unless they are trusted or have been around long enough to know who is who.

Actually the canned responses would hugely decrease the amount of time I spend on PM's. Opening a Pm, clicking an automated response, send...that's only a few seconds. People find it easier to pm David rather then actually look for a solution in the forums or in the FAQ. I've had the same questions as the other "newbies" around here just before asking I actually clicked the links that said "How to get Viz" and what not. But the whole button idea with automated responses would help loads. People never change so get your button mashing fingers ready.
