He recently said that Coca-Cola was 'poison to kids', but I drank Coca-Cola when I was 5 or 6 years old and it never did anything to me. He's probably worried about the childhood obesity problem in this country. But he is also attacking Kellogg's Frosted Flakes(the main sponsors of the LLWS). He better be careful, because these companies I think could sue him for defamation of character. To protest this, I drank some Coca-Cola products(Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fuze Iced Tea). Another thing I think might've been the underlying reason is that Tom Brady is one of the most accomplished sports figures and the view from high up can make your head big and people as well as other things start looking like ants, and then comes the part where you treat them like ants.

He's not lying, in fact about 6 of the 10 most unhealthiest drinks are owned by Coke, I even had to stop drinking vitamin water when I learned that they made it. The only things I drink by them are their brand of Root Beer, Sprite, and Powerade, everything else I drink is owned by Pepsi, and even though those are unhealthy, its still safer.

I don't think so. Nothing is safe besides water anyways. Pepsi is disgusting and not in any way healthier than Coke too. Mountain Dew and Sierra Mist are pure poison as well. And I still own stock in Pepsico! (not much, but I used to work for them for 9 years.) There's not any more sugar available to children now than there ever was. Actually, there are way more healthy choices than 30 years ago. It's about lack of exercise and exercise options I think. You could only play so much Atari before mom made you go outside and play. Especially if it was on a 12 inch black and white TV like I had in my room. And I was happy to have it! lolol

All Pop/soda (whatever you call it. Is HORRIBLE for you. Empty sugary calories filled with caffeine it has contributed bigtime to not only the obesity problem in the world but also the diabetes problem as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Tom Brady at all, but these types of foods and drinks are most certainly causing big issues.

The ones that are marketed towards kids, come off as even more dubious. Coke won't bothering suing him because they know that it's not good for kids. They really have no ground to stand on.

It's ignorant to call Coca Cola "poison". I've been drinking Coke pretty much my whole life, and I'm skinny. The real poison is Tom Brady and his wife. Obesity comes from kids eating fast food and junk food all the time and not getting any exercise. Part of it is  lack of metabolism also I suppose, but parents are to blame as well when all they give their kids is junk.

LordGaldan :

Technically, Tom Brady could get you for defemation of character, but in today's world that's a tall order to win legally. In todays age with literally over a billion Facebook accounts alone I bet? Nah, not one person/group/Profile what have you...nigh impossible to sue all the people who naysay a product or person negatively. A prime example of this company bashing? Walmart. Many a person puts online that walmart is "a wage slave job with no benefits" Odd. Many walmarts I've seen the past few years offer I think a starting wage of $9.00 an hour. And if you think that's bad, google Texas's minimum wage!

Eh....I can partly agree and partly disagree. "Poison" is an exaggeration, but people use hyperbole all the time to make their point. ie. "it killed me to do that, but I had to". It killed you? Funny, you seem very much alive to me still... But we don't question those people, instead we understand what they mean: " killed me" = "was very hard for me". And in much the same way, here "poison" = "extremely unhealthy", and he's not wrong. All sugar soda (and most sugar beverages in general) are very bad for your health in more ways than one. However, a few problems of note are that 1). The calories in a single can of soda are the equivalent of roughly half a meal for an adult, and probably 1/3 of a meal for a kid. Drink two of those a day and you'll gain weight in no time. 2). It's argued that too much soda of any kind can cause cancer. 3). Diabetes. Sugar soda is mostly syrup, and syrup is literally just liquid sugar.

I agree....sorta.

However, we drank soda all the time when I was a kid, and most kids today that I know do the same, and most of them aren't obese. No, what we need to focus on with the weight issue is exercise. Kids, like adults, need enough exercise to burn off their consumed calories. Of course that would be much easier if we didn't force them to spend most of their day sitting at a desk...home school is best for many reasons, and one of those reasons is that kids learn just as much and in far less time. I was home schooled and spent half the time it took me each day for school when I was in public school.

And let's face it: there have always been obese kids: I was one of them. We just didn't have everyone harping about it back then. Guess what: we lived. Fortunately I got sick of obesity and did something about it with God's help.

But all of this micromanaging and telling us what we can and can't have and what we should and shouldn't eat/drink/whatever? It's beyond annoying. Children's diets are something their parents need to worry about, not a sports star, not the government, not a president or his wife.

So yeah, I agree sort of, but I also say it's none of his business what our kids drink. lol

manicman66 : Minimum wage is the same where I live as it is in Texas. xD Never knew that was low. lol

Eirinn : I actually find it refreshing that a sports athlete would come out and say something against these types of drinks. Trust me, I'm not fan of Brady's, but it is a refreshing stance, considering these stars are often looked up to by kids and these are the same sports starts that are usually paid MILLIONS to endorse these type of drinks to try to make them "cool to drink"

Somebody like this who can influence these people in a positive manner is a refreshing take.

I do agree that children need more exercise, thats one of the biggest problem, but another problem are all these sugary drinks and horrible food filled with empty sugar calories that basically provide your body no positive benefit at all. That doesn't even include the damage on their teeth, or the damage the Caffeine does on their young bodies. These types of drinks are a HUGE contributing factor to the huge jump in Diabetes cases in children, and adults over the past 20 years.
