Who is ready to get some Goosebumps? The movie comes out next week and I think it looks cool, especially with Jack Black doing what Jack Black does best. I'm going to be at a panel on Sunday at Comic Con for the movie where I hope to learn a lot more about the movie and I really do want to see it once it comes out.

Are you a fan of the series and want to see it?

I was a huge fan of the books, so I'm pretty pumped for the goosebumps movie to come out. I'm jealous that you get to go to the panel at Comic Con, are you going to tell us what you see!?

Skilledtree : Sure, I also plan on getting autos from RL Stine and the cast when I go to the panel. Can't wait to meet Jack Black

I remember loving the books many years ago, and I even watched the tv show. I recently started reading some of the ones I managed to find around the house and I gotta say... I like them until I get to the endings of some of them. Some endings have book ruining plot twists, worthy of M. Night Shyamalan. One book I liked, until the last page. I just tossed the book across the room. XD

   I did love all of the Choose Your Own Adventure books though.

   Still, though, I love Jack Black, and I'd really want to see it.

 I did throw both of these books (Across the room AND in this post, I'm clever. ), as the plot twists were similar. Welcome to Camp Nightmare and The Girl Who Cried Monster.

   Uh, *spoilers* (I'm going to figure out how to do the spoiler tags, but I don't want to attempt, and fail ,and have to edit, like, 10 times to get it right.)

   In Welcome to Camp Nightmare, it's about some kids go to a camp, and there's some legend about a Werewolf. A bunch of stuff happens (I'm paraphrasing, just a little. XD), and Plot Twist time, it turns out everyone in the camp are aliens... For no reason.

   Then the Girl Who Cried Monster is about this girl sees her librarian eating bugs and stuff, and she think he's a monster. Then, at the end the book, her family invites him to dinner... Plot Twist time! Where he's the dinner! Because they're really the monsters who eat people... Yay...

   I don't mind plot twists, but both of these are revealed, like, the last page of the book. Everything leading up to that last page is fine, and I enjoy it... Then, they throw in a dumb plot twist for no reason... That's what I disliked.

   Also, I don't really think plot twists make the plot. I think the plot is the main body of the story, and plot twists just kind of change that plot. So, the story gets changed at the end, making new plot... Which I suppose is still plot. Plot. (You know how when you say a word so many times, it starts to sound funny? That's what I'm getting now. XD) Plot.

I read the books once upon a time. They were OK but at the time I was already reading something a little more advanced (translated Frissons in French. RL Stine wrote the series about a babysitter). There were a few books in English at my high school's library, but my comprehension of the language improved so much thanks to video games that I switched to my father's Star Wars novels.

Maybe for Halloween I would be tempted to see them. However considering that the novels are for children they would at best be b-series movies where special effects would be laughable. Also, how long of a movie can you make with a book that is about 120 pages?

janus : Well, judging from the trailer, they appear to use monsters from most of the books, so, taking the number of Goosebumps books into consideration, they could make the movie 10 hours long. It seems silly, but it looks like it's going to be fun.

I use to enjoy reading Goosebumps books and I saw some episodes of it in 4th grade ( I think it was epsiodes or was it a movie ? ). I wouldn't mind watching this movie but I'm not sure if I will be able to see it in threaters. I thought Jack Black was a retired actor. It's been so long since I seen him in a movie so it's nice to see him in one again.
