Jimmy Kimmel is a comedian who made a bit on his show picking on Youtube Gaming and basically said he doesnt get how people enjoy watching others play video games (i dont get it either) The bit got many gamers upset and some gave good arguments but of course Kimmel only focused on the plethora of death threats he was given and all i can do is think "Really people got upset over a bit that wasnt funny in the first place and did it really have to warrant death treats' Anyone who this guy a death threat is pathetic but who cares about his joke was it so hard just to be like "Oh god what a stupid joke this is" and go on with your day

Yeah I think this Jimmy Kimmel thing is ridiculous too...

I cant believe how many little kids got butthurt over a joke. They are taking it way too far with the death threats to him.
If he doesn't like watching people play video games then just leave him alone. You don't need to get upset over someone's opinion.

Eh, people were being ridiculous for reaching at all. He's a comedian, making fun of people is what they do. Sorry, folks.

As for watching people play games, IF the man watches sports or game shows, he has nothing to stand on with his idea that it's dumb to watch people play video games. I mean, whether they're playing real life Football, playing Millionaire, or shooting people in Call of Duty, watching someone else playing a game is watching someone else playing a game. It's all the same really.

Yeah, there's a decent number of people who really don't understand how streaming got so popular, or why people love to watch other people play video games. Honestly, I'm one of those people that doesn't understand how streaming became so popular, although I do understand the "watching people playing video games" part. The thing I really don't get is that he received death threats for that little comment he made about YouTube Gaming. Seriously? Someone actually did that? If he really did receive death threats, then his response is understandable. I mean, how would you react if people were sending you death threats instead of him?

And you know what the dumbest part is? I've never even heard of Jimmy Kimmel, and this controversy is the only time I've ever heard his name before. So in their attempt to make him disappear, they just made him that much more popular. Maybe they should've thought twice before sending death threats to a comedian for making jokes.

With shows like that, everything is scripted by the writing staff, which usually doesn't even involve the host, who just agrees to say what the writing team suggests, so that really might not be his view at all, it's just what the team thinks will be the funniest at the moment and get the most attention.

I think it's funny how worked up people get when a comedian makes a joke like this. I mean, that's what they do. Get used to it.

With regards to the huge boost in popularity that "Let's plays" and other types of entertainment over the past several years, I don't really get it either.

For me personally, I can only watch someone play a game for a handful of mins before I start getting bored. Then again, I never understood how people could watch those lame Vlogs on YT either ;-)

I mean I do watch let's plays but I see no reason to get all riled up over it. He's a comedian, they make fun of things. Let's plays are just another form of entertainment to make fun of, just like actually playing a video game, sports or even the jimmy kimmel show itself. All this does is show how immature a large portion of the gaming/let's play watching community is by not being able to take a joke.

I'm not surprised to see people react like this. The joke was rather tame compared to jokes I have heard about other demographics. This is just sad to see people not being able to take a simple joke that shouldn't be taken seriously.

I think we're not in a world where if anyone disagrees with anything you like or believe in, or even tries to joke about it, people are going to scream from the top of their lungs, with their hands in the air and scream bloody murder, even if it was supposed to be a joke. It also doesn't make it any easier when you do it on the Internet. It just seems like there are some people on the Internet are just looking for any excuse to complain about anything they see, and because they are usually the loudest voices compared to those that actually get it, they're the only ones that are heard and everyone just jumps on the criticism. It's getting out of hand these days.

As for what Kimmel said, his team were probably hoping for a reaction like this so that they can get more material. It can't be easy to do a show five days a week for as long as he has, along with other late night talk show hosts like him. Also, if people don't like it, they can always just not watch.

Yeah, it seems like whenever someone says something that "offends" someone, the person's response is making death threats on the internet. This just shows how pathetic our society can be. As for LP's, I don't get why they're so popular either, although my sister got me into watching The Runaway Guys, as well as chuggaconroy and NintendoCapriSun individually. Other than that though, I don't get into LP's at all.

Oh dear. Is the world of gaming the next one in list who will plead the "right not to be offended"? COME ON PEOPLE! He is making fun of your habits, not you personally. He did not threatened your life nor did he slander you. Do not become part of this "social justice nonsense."

I'm not really surprised to hear this. It seems like now a days with the anonymity behind so many of our actions, people feel as if they can say anything they want to anyone. These are probably the same people who in person would suck up to him because he's famous or has money. I'm sure some individuals have received death threats for less...
