Hey Everyone,
I just found and joined this site yesterday! I love it so far, First on my list is to beat Dragon Warrior. After that its all the Gameboy Zelda games i never had a chance to beat. Little bit about me i started playing video games when i was 2. The NES was pretty new and my family owned one. My first games ever were Jackal, Bomberman, and Mario. After that i got into Zelda and RPGs pretty heavy. Glad i found this place, i have a lot of old games to beat now!

Nice to hear you have some games in your radar. Being a player for so many generations, I'm pretty sure you will find a ton more by doing a quick search. Just don't forget to lurk every now and then around the forums, there's a thread for any subject in existence (and if there isn't, you're free to create it).

You started with video games a bit too early if you ask me. Glad you still like them, I think games never get too old. The NES is really awesome and I hope you are able to beat the old games here. If I may ask, what's your favorite RPG game to date? I have a bunch of favorites.

I'm also a fan of the Dragon Warrior Games for the NES and Jackal is one of my favorite top-down shooters on the NES!...well really you can't go wrong with Konami NES shooters in general.

Yeah, i started really young. I don't think i was very good back then, but it has helped me develop great problem solving and critical thinking skills. Which now i use everyday and at work. I credit older video games (difficult) video games to some of my success as an adult and as a student.

It's never too early.... Altough i don't really see much benefit in starting kids out young on the video games we have today. They are a lot easier and tutorials take away a lot of the trial and error/ problem solving that were present in almost all early generation games. Agreed: it's never too early to start gaming. xD I started at age two or three myself, and my first game (I'm told) was on the Atari VCS/2600, though I don't know what the game was. The first I remember for sure were Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda. Other early titles for me were Gauntlet, Super Dodgeball, and some TMNT game that I can only remember by the fire in the foreground that moved even when the game was paused, and an underwater level where you had to diffuse bombs. Oh and Ghostbusters.

But this is your intro thread, so enough about me. lol


It's great to see another member posting around here (and one that remembers the old days of gaming like me, no less), be sure to drop by the forums often and hang out with us between gaming sessions! Also if you have a PSN/Xbox Live etc. username, be sure to add it in your settings so people can find you. We also have a game collection system that will make it easy to track your collections value as well as find people to sell them to, trade them with, loan them to, or play them online with if it's on a modern system, and it also lets you choose to be alerted anytime a thread about the game is made and linked to the game's page. It's a super handy feature, so be sure to check it out.

On a final note, you can notify others that you replied to them in a thread if you type their username followed by a space and a colon (though the space is optional, it seems more likely to work that way to me). For example:

Eirinn : Hey Thanks a lot for your reply. It's great to hear from somebody who started around my generation of gaming. I'll have to go through my game collection one of these days and put it all on here. (I have a lot of old games and consoles) I think you confused the old mutant turtle games the original arcade game, which started out with fire in the foreground, was teenage mutant ninja turtles the arcade game. There was another separate game where you could pick between which turtle you wanted to play, and it did include a very annoying level. You had a set time limit to diffuse bombs. You were in a maze and all the borders of the maze would shock you and kill you very quickly. Its good to hear though, that at some point in your childhood, you played both the NES ninja turtle titles.

Oh okay. Yeah, like most kids I knew back then I was obsessed with the Turtles, so I'm not surprised that I played both of them.

PacmanandMariofan : First mario game, as far as i can remember it was Super Mario Bros. for the NES. If I played any other games featuring Mario prior to that, I don't remember ever playing them.

Oh yeah, the first "Super Mario" game The first version of that I played was the Deluxe version for the Game Boy color, on the internet XD I think it was the 2nd Mario game I've ever played.
