I know people who just skim (like me), others who say reading is a waste of time, and one woman who reads everything. Whats your take on this?

From my own experience, you pretty much have to read, unless you know the material VERY intimately.

It can depend, depending on your major, but in most courses, you are either required to read, or suggested to. Skimming worked in high school, because it was base stuff that we all already more or less knew. Many college courses, beyond junior year, can be very reading intensive, and actually teach you things you didn't know.

If you can get by in college, skimming the course material, it's either an extremely easy course, or you have a lousy professor who doesn't get you thinking. The best ones are the ones that make you stand on your own two feet, and actually learn.

legacyme3 : Yea I agree with you. And I'm taking more classes in my major this semester forward, so things should be more interesting.
