Is your Xbox controller wired? If so you can probably just plug it in to your computer and play the game that way.

It is wired and I did try that, but the game is wanting to configure before I can play. Otherwise I'm just pressing buttons without any success.

Aranncar : Yes the RGR games are playable with a Wired Xbox controller.(But not through the play and charge kit using a wireless controller)

For Dreamcast games, you can double-click the game window to bring up the controller configuration. This allows you to adjust the controls to your preferences.

Once the game loads, you can go into the "controller options" within the game, to see what the controls do and adjust it between 2 different controller presets.
