I've been meaning to talk about this for a while now but I keep getting lazy. I had my orientation for Summer Youth about two weeks ago which is a program that gets you a job for the summer. This is my 3rd year with the program and I think this may become the best because of where I will be working.

For my first year I worked at Key Food and for my 2nd year I worked at a hardware store. This year in going to be working as an assistant for the Supreme Court Clerk in New York. I start on July 6th and will work for 6 weeks. Im a bit nervous, especially after Play told me what I needed to wear but I think this is going to be a really cool experience, and I'm pretty sure that something like this would work well towards what I want to do for an overall career

It's because I have so much going on this summer already, such as summer assignments for Honors English next year, and I really want to have a ton of spare time for friends, family, and vizzed. Even if I work like 3-4 hours a day it'll be difficult to have the amount of free time I want. Plus most of my friends have tight schedules already without a job and I miss them

Well, it's a topic that's more about you and something your doing this summer. Also it's normal to be nervous. Is this your first job in real life? You should defiantly still do it either way. It will give you a bit of experience under your belt and also once you get there and get started working the nervousness will go away.

Oh well I'm not sure if I told you or not but I have had 2 different jobs and I just got a new job coming close to a week ago. Before I came in to work I was soo nervous even though I had worked at different jobs before. Being nervous is a natural thing. Everyone gets nervous before they start their job. I hope that makes you feel some better to know that it is normal.

The first day was quite successful though all we did was sort folders and then put them on shelves for a full 6 hours, which is all done so we wont be doing that anymore. Bit disappointing though because half the people went up to the actual supreme court which I thought would be cool to go to but working for criminal courts is good. They said that at one point we will start sitting in during trials which sounds like it can be awesome in many ways. I also happen to get Fridays off which never happened in this program and my own staff entrance which is awesome.

Friday is probably one of the best days you can have off of work, by the way. Getting off on Sunday would be nice too, especially for people like me who want to go to church and then take it easy at home on Sundays.

Well, the job has been amazing so far, to the point where I wish I could take the exam to keep working once the summer ends. I looked through some old warrents and files, went into some trials, even learned a bunch of crime codes and it as cool.

First week ended today and I can't wait to go back.

Jordanv78 : Well, the only thing we do as part of the job is filing really, but we learn so much by going through the files so I guess that would be the best part. One of my supervisors actually said if we get bored filing them that we should actually go through the reports to see all the crimes, I literally went through peoples rap sheets and it's so much fun.

We also have permission to go around the entire court building and just look around and go into trials as we please.
