Hello guys, I've realized that high school puts a lot of pressure on you to choose a career path you want to go into early so you can get the correct courses that you need to take your required course in college/university. However I'm having some trouble trying to find the right career path that I want to pursue. I've been debating being a firefighter for a while now but that's sort of slipped off and I can't really find the motivation to continue on that career choice. It's really hard to find one and puts a lot of pressure from teachers, fellow students, and some adults always asking "what do you wanna e when you grow up". The only really special skill I have is my athleticism and my ability to read people, but I'm super lazy, and I can't really find the motivation to do many things. I was just wondering if anyone here is going through the same predicament as me. If so what is it that's preventing you from being able to choose an adequate career?

SentimentalValue : Few basic questions. What kind of things do you enjoy doing? Hobbies? Games? For almost anything you enjoy doing you can do something with it pretty much. Like for me, I enjoy playing games. But I don't have any technical skill, so I am designing a card game. I don't have artistic skills o I will have to outsource projects to others for the art work. Right now, the only thing I lack is money. Though once I get things moving I will be successful.
You say you are the athletic type, maybe try sports? Or maybe wrestling, if you got the stamina and charisma, that is all you really need. Sign up for tough enough.
Or if you like cooking, can try a local restaurant till you get the experience till you get in a management position and one day own your own.
This is America, and despite popular belief, this is still a land of opportunities.
If you find a way to get paid for what you enjoy, it will never be work.

Darthdaishi : Yea I've thought of a career in sports, I did rep soccer for a few years and I could have played higher but I didn't have enough money so going into the pros for that turned glum really quick.
Gaming is my biggest hobby and a loving passion of mine I have thought of going into a career dealing with that but I ne'er had any technological skills either, knowing that you are in that field without much technology skills gives me hope, I may look into some careers dealing with this
Sadly there isn't much I enjoy doing (gosh dangit) the main think that I like doing is entertaining people and making them laugh/smile an I've never really though of going into the entertainment business as it is so unstable
It's great that your doing something you enjoy and I hope you find the funding you need
P.s I'm in canada so land opportunity does not help me much lol

SentimentalValue : The entertainment business can be more stable then a lot of people may think, just got hit the niche. The WWE is always looking for new talent

Personally I dent  have much charisma and I am not athletic so I decided not to look into this option much. As for technical skills, I feel I am too old for this but someone that is young should be able to pick up on it. I also have ADHD along with a lot of the youth in this day and age. But with the information we have available to us, I been trying to learn basic game coding and yes I go through a lot of Tylenol lmao.  Seriously though, they have free tutorials on various sites and youtube. The opportunities are there The hard part  is the laziness which I too am infected with, but sometimes you gotta just suck it up and take the high road.

If you find you are lazy, then I would go into a career that makes puts you in high energy situations were even a lazy person has to act.

Maybe go into paramedics. Avoid things like sales, maketing, and other desk jobs, because you would likely have a hard time motivating yourself. I would stick to jobs that require you to go go go. Nursing is another good idea, though it is a long enough road to go down.

In general, I support shorter courses than long university courses. Why? There's a big need for them right now, and you can end up making a very good living with them.

I would try to find something that kept you doing something all the time. That way you really don't have a choice to sit around and do nothing. Medical career is one option for this. Doctor, Paramedic and even nurse. I mean you always have something to do in those positions right? My answer is similar to Light Knights because I agree with what he's saying. Law enforcement is something else you could think about doing.

Shorter courses or Longer courses are both fine. Which ever preference you choose though in my opinion. I think they are both very demanding but I  believe shorter courses are more demanding than longer courses.

I can't tell you what to do with your life, but I can tell you this. A good amount of people will graduate high school without any idea of what they're going to do. Nothing is set in stone and regardless of what you do in high school, you'll have plenty of opportunity to figure it out over the next few years.
