Hi, Jack!

It's official: somebody needs some serious Video Game rehab.

It has been confirmed by Nintendo UK that a truck carrying a shipment of pre-ordered copies of Splatoon which also included a squid inkling amiibo was stolen while on it's way to a game store called GAME (creative, I know) in the UK. Whether the driver was in the truck at the time or not is unclear at this time. Also unclear is whether or not the thieves were aware what exactly was in the truck.

have you seen me?

Thievery Is Always Bad, But...

While it's always bad to see someone's merchandise stolen, it's exceptionally sad in this case as this was a Special edition of the game and the only way to get your hands on the Squid inkling amiibo. And so players who had pre-ordered a copy of the game for the sake of said amiibo will now never see their precious.

sorry, I couldn't resist the Gollum reference

GAME Makes It Good...Sort Of

Well there is at least some small bit of consolation for GAME customers who lost their amiibo in this tragic example of greed, game addiction, stupidity, or whatever the heck it was, and that is that GAME issued the following statement:

"We have no option but to substitute the Splatoon + Squid Inkling in your order with the standard version of the game. You will still receive your Inkling Girl and Inkling Boy amiibo. We will be discounting this edition by £10 from £52.99 to £42.99 to apologize for this inconvenience."

So those who preordered the special edition may now receive a discounted version of the regular game (also known as the not-so-special edition. Well, not really but...) at a £10 discount. Not exactly all squared, but at least they're trying to make up for it in some small way, and that's saying something since it wasn't even their fault to begin with.

So Why Should I Care?

Good question. The answer is so obvious that you're going to be blown away. Ready? Here's why you should care:

You shouldn't.

Unless you happen to live in the UK and pre-ordered the special edition of Splatoon from GAME, you really have no reason to be concerned by this, but we are because if the internet has taught us anything it's that we all need to know everyone else's business these days, so why not?

Well, you may have a reason to be concerned if you don't live in the UK but you do want this amiibo and don't mind buying hot merch, because let's face it: they will probably be listed online somewhere. I won't say they'll turn up on eBay or Amazon, but I won't say that they won't be there either. I will offer a hint on where they'll likely be found though: Amazon or eBay. Now let's see how long it takes for someone to add one of these little guys to their Vizzed game collection list.

We must know everyone's buisness because it's the Internet :V.

But seriously, that's really bad :/. That robber must be put in jail, or be forbidden from video games.

Well, maybe Nintendo can make more amibos for the loss? Like, just have it a little delayed or something? Or give it to them when the truck is eventually found (it has to have some tracking system if it has such important game things in it. If not, then that's not very smart :/). Because a simple discount seems... not that good. I understand it wasn't their fault, but still :V.

Regardless, let's hope everything is sorted out.

Sauron422416 : As soon as I saw your username pop up on this article I couldn't wait to see what you had to say about the Gollum reference. xD

Those thieves... they stuffed the amiibos in their nasty little pocketses!

ZeroTails : I think they're just planning on mailing the game to people first class to get it to them asap. No talk about making more amiibos yet though, and I doubt they will since it was a special/limited edition amiibo. They'd probably not want to risk making several more copies of it and then having the others surface and reduce the collection value. It would be nice if they did though.

ZeroTails : Everyone wants Nintendo to make more Amiibo's, they sell out like hot cakes every time a new one is released. The Target exclusive Jigglypuff Amiibo sold out in just 5 minutes after it was put up. And that was just to pre-order it.
---

Funny how this thread pop's up after I was done talking to a friend about this. xD I pre-ordered 2 set's of the Splatoon Amiibo pack.

Would be nice if the squid came in different color's, just like the yarn Yoshi ones.

This incident remind's me of the time where 6,000 copies of CoD: Modern Warfare 3 was stolen from a truck in France.

It really sucks that all that merchandise was stolen, it's not fair to the buyer's at all. It's good that a discount was given, better than nothing. Also, it's bad enough that some people including kids can't even get the Amiibo's of their favorite character's. Thanks to people selling them for 2 or 3 times the price or people like this:

So I'm not surprised that this happened, it was only a matter of time. The Amiibo craze is real.

Oh and Splatoon was released today.

Meh, didn't pre-order it so I do not care . That's what the brits get for making us suffer such awful Computer games 30 years ago... karma comes in weird ways.
I couldn't care less to be honest, Splatoon looks like a rip-ff of QPang, which was last revelant in 2010.
