So, I recently bought a PC game that I found new for $3 that was from my childhood. But, there is a problem. My laptop is 64-bit based, and it doesn't support 16-bit based games. Does anybody know if there is anything I can do about this?

Hmm, trying downloading this software called D-Fend Reloaded. It should allow you to play your 16-bit game on your 64-bit computer
http://dfendreloaded.sourceforge.net/

If that doesn't work another option could be downloading Virtualbox, to emulate an older version of Windows to try the run the 16-bit game.
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

That or just buy and old computer lol, windows XP computers should be able to run it.

thing1 : LIke I said, try downloading D-Fend and see if you can run it then

When you install it click Add, Install from source media, and then install from real CD drive.
Let me know if that works

thing1 : There should be no need to download anything. Windows already has this function built-in

You should be able to run the game in "Compatibility mode" For an older version of Windows.

Just right click the games executable file, then click "Properties" Then select "Compatibility"

Once there click the box to run in compatibility mode and choose an older version of windows (whatever the game recommends on the box)

If it's a Dos Game (which I think it probably is), try running it with DosBox:

http://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1

Basically, you need to download dosbox and install it. Afterwards, you have to create a directory on your hard drive. Like make a folder called "DosBox" on the root of your hard disk in C:Dosbox. (Where "C" is the letter of your hard drive.) Copy and paste your game (and all files that are for the game) on to that folder.

Then launch dosbox, type: "mount c C:Dosbox" (without quotations) and press enter. Then type "C:" (without quotations) then press enter. Then launch the .exe or .com file of the game by simply typing the name of it with the extension. So, if it is called "example.exe", then type "example.exe" (without quotations) and press enter.

The reason you need to do this is because there is no way a 64 bit version of Windows can run any 16-bit programs/games.
