In a month or so, we will be witnessing the return of Vizzed Camp!

For those who have no idea what Vizzed Camp is, they should read the Update Blog above, or go searching to the Treasure Can to see the Activities Thread from the first (and only so far) VC!

For those that do know what it is, your opinion will be crucial to making the upcoming VC even better.

I have a few questions I need answered in order to give you the best possible experience, and I'm leaving it to the people of IT (for you are my people) to help me out.

So here we are...

1. What kind of competitions do you want me to give out?

Above, you will see that I have put in a poll! You can use this poll if you want, or you can answer in this thread (or both). In any case, I want to know what it is that the VC'ers find the most entertaining. Is it the art competitions? Screenshot grabs? Or something that I haven't quite come up with yet? Whatever it is, this is your chance to pitch an idea, vaguely or specifically, to me for inclusion in Vizzed Camp 2015!

2. Should this year's camp be in Innocent Town, and only Innocent Town?

Innocent Town is the only forum I really have any power over, and thus, the best place for me to do things like the Daily Update Blog (which this year will probably just be one single post edited over and over and over until it's one huge post by the end of the month, with the current double posting rules...). However, if I do put it in Innocent Town, then people who are NOT trusted+ will not be able to sign up, as Innocent Town is a Trusted Only forum. This also opens the can of worms of if a staff member manages to demote someone playing to out of trusted status. This is a key issue that needs discussion. I could go either way, but wish to know what you would prefer.

3. Should I do the Daily Update Blog again this year?

Anyone who was around for the last VC knows that I kept a blog that not only kept score, but made humorous anecdotes about camp, through the trials of Camp Counselor Leggy. I think I've improved my writing in recent years, so I think it could be even more entertaining, and with it being in IT (if we choose to keep it in IT) I can get a little crazier and zany. However, if people don't even read the blog, I may choose to just not do it. I want to know if people feel the need to have one?

4. Should we have "team threads" again?

Last time, it was an unmitigated disaster, and one team spammed the hell out of their thread. However, I'm willing to give them a chance again, under the condition that if someone spams, they will be banned from future IT games, including, but not limited to Camp, Mafia, Survivor, etc. I do think the team threads served purpose, and gave everyone a meeting ground to discuss plans as a group, and to submit all their work, not only for me to view, but for the other teams to see as well. Think of it as a bulletin board, and not your personal chat room.

5. How long should the competition go?

Last year, VC started around the end of June, and went until August 26th, which was a good two months of competition. This seemed to work pretty well, although near the end I suffered a bit of fatigues. It is worth noting, however, that I was doing the blog, overseeing the competition, and also doing a TON of work as a global moderator all at the same time. Now that I am no longer a global (or a mod, period) I won't have as much getting in the way of updating the various threads. I could make it a month longer, if you so chose, or whatever. I want to know what you think is a good stopping point.

6. What else can we add to make the experience more fun?

I've already touched on specific topics that I don't know what to do with, but there may have been something I missed. Is there a way you think we can improve VC that isn't listed in the above questions? Is there something we should do to make the formula more interesting? What questions do you have for me?

If anyone wants to help tackle these, all discussion is helpful.

I'm doing this for YOU after all! Camp Counselor Leggy is the most friendly Leggy you will ever meet!

1. I'd like more creative tasks. They can be in the RGR, but I liked the random ones like "create a story" that didn't require trying to do a speedrun of a random RGR game. In VSKS I really enjoyed the non-RGR competitions as they had the coolest tasks.

2. I don't have a particular preference. I guess I'd personally like for it to be in Innocent Town only, but having it as a community-wide event has its own appeals.

3. I think that would be neat. However, I wasn't here for the last one.

4. With those consequences, I think team threads would be great.

5. If it starting early June, 3 months would be sweet, if you can handle it. If it's starting early July or late June, then I might prefer it being closer to 2 months just because September/October are busy months.

6. I can't think of much else. Somebody with more experience with Vizzed Camp might have more useful insights here. Can't wait to sign up next month.

I thought the screenshot competitions were pretty fun. I'd like it so that it doesn't entirely depend on gaming skills alone, really. That was mostly my problem with Kanashi Shima but I know that wasn't really supposed to be a direct sequel to VC.

2. I'd actually like it as any ranks allowed. I feel like we'd get more people and not all newbies are absolutely terrible.

3. Yeah, I loved it. I'd like to see one again.

4. Absolutely. I don't see it working out without the team threads.

5. Just as long as last time, summer is obviously the best time to do it and it ended just barely after school started for me last time.

I can't really answer 6 because I was really happy with the way it was last year. Or, at least, I will be.

I might be biased, but I'll throw an idea in.

Why not some competitions in Minecraft? Such as Devil's Nightmare, but obviously not just that. There are many other obstacles.

Anyway... I love the idea of a speedrun, although it doesn't always mean "GO GO GO TO THE FINISH!"
It could be a "Speedrun to this point, please." (Although, that would require screenshotting or a recording... I don't know the opinion on that.)
Okay, now I'll answer your questions.

1. Just answered that.
2. Hmm... I don't know, there's so much pros and cons on this, in my opinion. I'd like to go on a limb,  to say that all Vizzed Camp stuff, such as threads, and competition threads, so on, stays in IT. However, the challenges can be anywhere.
3. I just read your blog again. Yes, I would love a blog on this, but I'd understand if it wasn't "Daily" anymore.
4. YES. JUST YES. PLEASE.
5. Unlimited, honestly. If it ends short, then fine, but if it last longer, love it.
6. I'm not sure what other ideas that hasn't been made obvious by others and yourself there is. I would say it's already fun as it is.

Galacta :

The difference being that Vizzed Survivor's goal was to have objective competitions, where a clear winner would be known. With Vizzed Camp, we can afford to be way more subjective. I see them as total opposites, which is why I plan on cycling between the two.

Snowdeath :

The issue with Minecraft competitions is not everyone has Minecraft, and I don't want to do challenges that some people are not allowed to do. It's just not really feasible, and I don't want to bar people from playing the game, just because they don't have money.

If it were feasible, sure, I could see working in one or two, primarily for art competitions, but I can't see that possibility popping up.

I've never been in one of those, but it seems interesting, so I'll take a shot. Maybe it'll give some new insight .

1. I'd like to see a variety of competitions. By that I mean that there could be random stories one day, a drawing the next, and the obligatory speedrun. I'd just like to see that winning the competition is based on having a bunch of skills, instead of just one.

2. There are advantages to both. If we just did Innocent Town, that means that only the "good" Vizzed users get to compete. Considering how easy it normally is to get trusted, it might not matter much. Trusted members only get downrated if they did something like spam or flame, so there could be a disclaimer that you will be out of the competition if you go below trusted.

However, not all non-trusted members are terrible, and not all newbies are bad. So, either way could work.

3. The blog seems like an interesting and exciting feature. I'd say yes, since random antidotes are always fun

4. Team threads is a good idea, but based on what happened last year (based on Leggy, I wasn't there), it needs some rules in place. The spamming rule seems sufficient enough, so it could work.

5. It doesn't really matter that much. Well, I'd prefer 3 months since that's longer, and there will be 2 months of where TdV isn't taking place, instead of just one.

6. I'm not gonna answer this one, since I wasn't here for any Vizzed Camp, period.

1. I enjoy writing a lot. A LOT. That said, I realize such a competition might have few participants.

2. I suggest using Innocent Town as a "hub". Everything stems from here, but can go into other forums. Everything is announced here, but competitions would be held in a particular forum, according to topic.

3. Yes, absolutely yes. I love the idea of a blog for this.

4. I don't suggest having teams; however, I do suggest having camps. Like you suggested, a bulletin board of sorts. But not for points, just for the sake of discussion and fun.

5. Three months sounds pretty good. It'd give time for visibility, and could have "off-days", or days without competition. Those days would be used for discussion for future competitions and just for fun.

6. I'm not sure what I'd suggest except "off-days". This would give you time to recover and plan, and us time to prepare. Plus it'd help fuel team spirit, if there are teams, imo.

ZeroTails :

Then you are in luck! Vizzed Camp has always been about having many types of contests. The point of the question isn't to choose one thing to focus on, but to see what people prefer the most, because there will be a bit of an imbalance.

supernerd117 :

I'm confused by this statement...

"4. I don't suggest having teams; however, I do suggest having camps. Like you suggested, a bulletin board of sorts. But not for points, just for the sake of discussion and fun."

What's the difference between camps and teams in this particular instance? A team is a group of people who "live" in a cabin. The team threads can be seen as chatting within the cabin about how to go about an activity.

I think we're on the same page here, but you are a little confused as to my meaning.

legacyme3 : Yeah, I suppose I was just confused. I thought of "teams" as people trying to earn points/competing against other "teams", etc. "Camps" I thought of as groups of people united behind something, but not necessarily competing with each other/other "camps".

There will be points involved, and a winner will be crowned, but it's notably less competitive than other competitions I do.

1. Lots of variety in the competitions. A little with the common and a little with new and exciting games that I can get behind.

2. I think we should have it in the open so everyone can see it. Posting it in General Chat, and if everyone is trusted or above, we can go back to IT, since the forum is restricted for regular users.

3. Yes, we should have it again. It might be hard since you might not be able to keep it in one thread without everyone posting in it too because sandwich restrictions or something, but we should have the updates in a single thread. Or try.

4. Yeah, it was a mess last time, but as long as we monitor or keep it on topic, it shouldn't be a problem. We should have Team threads either way.

5. I'd say it should stretch throughout the summer again. If not, a good part of it. As long as everyone is having fun, it shouldn't be limited.

6. I'm not sure what else to say that will benefit the games even more. I suppose as long as we all have fun, the game will benefit greatly.

1. Totally pumped about an art competition. My team would basically have that in the bag with me there (if my hand decides to cooperate)
2. Yeah, sounds like the best option
3. Sure idc
4. YES OMG DO IT
5. A single session of a camp irl is 2 weeks... maybe you can do different sessions of vizzed camp? Or are you already doing that? I dunno. Just a suggestion lol.
6. I wanna see your beautiful face everyday, Counselor Leggy

Makalya :

You raise an interesting suggestion.

You say we should have sessions, which we don't really do, yet.

Here's how our plan works. I basically choose a challenge for you all to partake in. This challenge usually lasts 3 days, to a week (with only one or two challenges ever going beyond that, hopefully). I then prep people for the next.

In essence, it's a continuous stream of challenges, but of limited number.

By the end of camp, we will have done 10-20 challenges (2-3 weeks worth, if you do each challenge in one day).

So you are getting a session length, if you want it like that, but you are also being given license to throw yourself into it, and spend all 2-3 months (whichever we go with) doing whatever it is we do.

And because you want to see my beautiful face every day, I will give you this picture to tide you over.
