Have any of you ever read it?

I swear, it is the best book I have read in my entire life.

The themes were really heavy, and a novel never really made me feel that way before . It was a huge mix of sad, happy, and suspenseful, and it was simply amazing!

It is about a twelve-year-old boy named David who basically spent his entire life being brought up and treated horribly in a concentration camp. When given an opportunity to escape, he takes it despite his lack of enthusiasm and no strong care about his own fate since life or death does not matter to him... Then he journeys through Europe and learns about the wonders of life, meeting lots of really cool people who help him and convince him that he does, in fact, want to live... There are a lot of uncool, people, too, but... I'm not going to say anymore. It's a BEAUTIFUL book.

I love it!

The kid, having experienced so much and having witnessed so much at such a young age baffled the people he met, and also resulted in him having extremely high morals for a mere boy. This often made it difficult for him to understand other children and get along with them. However... he discovers many things.

I really, really, REALLY encourage you all to read it! I fell in love with it!

The captains and guards at the concentration camp are simply referred to by David as "them" or "they," which is always italicized, for his hatred for them is so great he doesn't dare to call them by name .

What made me so happy, though, was the fact that my school made us read it during Spring Break. It made my parents very happy. I live in an Arab country, so a lot of schools here tend to... not really talk about Jews much. They don't speak about them negatively, of course, but they try to avoid the subject altogether. I always found that very unfortunate. The fact that my school distributed a book obviously about the holocaust after my fear that we would never sympathize with them was... well, it made me want to cry. I was thrilled!

Please, please, PLEASE read the book! I promise you won't regret it...

Also, it was pretty deep. I didn't mean to be rude, but I had an uneasy thought it was too much for my classmates to take in (I am NOT calling them stupid; I just tell from observation that they appreciate different kinds of things than I do), and I thought it would be a waste... I'm not sure how much of it they could understand while appreciating it at the same time, but the notes on the book the previous owner had written said enough for me:

"they suck!! like vacuum"

I laughed so hard, ha, ha! Well, at least they got the idea xD.

Anyway, if you find the book, BUY it!

My friend found the movie, and we're watching it in English class sometime soon !

Have a nice day, everyone!!!

It was one of my favorite books back in the day. I watched the movie as well, and both were great! It's been so long since I read it though, but I remember eating it up (not literally!). I'm glad you've fallen in love with it!

When I first saw the thread title, I thought it was a joke thread where we pretend we're Davideo7 .

Instead, it's a book about the Holocaust! Well, I've never read it, but I am reading a book about the Holocaust in school. It's a memoir, so it's real. It's called "Night". It's pretty deep as well. Well, I'll see if I can find the book at the library.
