On various occasions I've talked about a game that I and some friends of mine are working on that we plan to release on Android and possibly Steam. Well we recently encountered one of those eye opening moments that make you hate your favorite game developers: that moment when almost all aspects of the game are finished and suddenly someone says "Yeah, but wouldn't it be so much cooler if we did this other thing instead?" and everyone agrees so they scrap a lot of content and postpone the release date. Yay.

Now while I won't go into much about what has been changed, I would like to say that we're now looking to hire in some help for audio, graphics, and additional programmers. If you might be interested in earning extra Viz or even some cash, read on.


Audio - We decided to go for modern audio, and as such we now need someone who can put together good music for us. We're currently looking to pay on a by-the-song basis, but if you're good enough and you want it to, this could potentially turn into a long term role with us.

How it will work - You put a song together and send us a copy of it. If we like it and think it's a good fit for our game, we'll work out a price for it with you. Note that once you sell it to us, you also sell us all rights to it. You will be credited for it, but you cannot reclaim it. That's only fair after all.
Next you tell us if you want Viz now, or cash after the game's release. Then we work out a deal. Simple as that.



Graphics - We need hand drawn or computer art. The things we'll need are:
-Trees. Individual trees and entire backdrops of trees.
-Mountains. Individual and entire scenes, but mostly full size scenes (backdrops)
-Ocean/Beach scene for a backdrop (no people on it)
-Snow scene for a backdrop
-Desert scene for a backdrop
-Grassy Hills scene for a backdrop
-Forrest scene for a backdrop
-Bushes. Individual and entire scenes for backdrops

How it will work - Same as with audio. See above.


Programmer - We need an experienced programmer who can work well with C# and preferably has experience with Unity.

How it will work - We'll hire you on for this project only, however this could turn into a permanent position if you want and we feel that it's a good idea and that we can afford it. Your pay will be determined by how much of your code is used in the final product.

And the change here is against what he (and I initially) wanted: we opted against retro. We had plenty of 8-bit music for retro, but we can't produce modern game music ourselves yet, and modern 2D is now the approach.

As an outside source you would benefit from the pay (of course) as well as getting your name on products if you planned to follow a career related to games, music, graphics, or programming.
As a member of the team you would get all of the above as well as a job that you could work a reasonable amount of time and as your schedule permitted, for extra cash. And once we're an established business with a consistent income, you would have a steady paycheck doing it.

And with both of the above you get experience that would look good on a resumé or just plain be helpful for you personally if you plan to pursue a career in any of the things we're looking for help with.

Since this app was originally going to have several games in it we weren't planning on having a full story, more like just giving a reason as to why you were doing what you were doing. The writing of a full story is a part of the overhaul however, and I'll gladly give you a look at the story in general via pm. Do you already have all of the tools you need to make the music? If so I'll send you the pm with the opening of the story and the general concept of what will follow, and possibly a rough draft of the rest of the story as soon as it's ready.
