I was just looking into skins, when I bumped into an article on the top 25 mods for Minecraft. One was ComputerCraft: http://www.computercraft.info/ and the other was JourneyMap: http://journeymap.techbrew.net/ 

Are there any other mods worth the download and install? And, does the modding end up being permanent? Or, can I just do it once, and if I don't want it, can I uninstall it? Any help would be awesome! 

So, a summary, discuss mods, suggest mods!

Does it install the same way other mods do? (I'm a mod newbie... I've only installed one mod, once.)

You're probably better off downloading a mod pack than individual mods. Modpacks have tons of mods in them and they should work together without any issues.
I recommend yogscast complete and the mad pack 2 from the at launcher.

If you want to download individual mods you can uninstall it by deleting it from your mods folder. You need to install forge to use most mods and then put the mods you want in the mods folder in your .minecraft folder. If you have forge and the "mods" folder isn't there you can make one.

Optifine is probably one of the best mods out there, both for singleplayer and multiplayer. It can reduce lag, improve FPS, let you zoom in, gives you better graphics and other things.

I'm not a huge mod guy, but I always play with this one. Definitely worth checking out.
