You don't know if a download will put a virus on your PC until you download the file.
There are a few steps you can take to try and stay safe on the internet.
1: Get a good antivirus program. The top ones are Avast, AVG, Microsoft Security Essentials, and Avira.
2: Get antispyware protection. This is included in most of the antivirus listed above, but I recommend a browser blacklister like SpybotSD.
3: Check out any new site you want to download from that you havn't downloaded from before with Site Advisor. This free service from McAfee checks sites and says if they have been marked good, bad, or otherwise (note, a good report doesn't mean the downloads are safe, just that the site should be).
4: Only use ActiveX plugins from sites you trust.

We here strive to make sure all our files on http://www.get-your-rom.com/ and Vizzed are clean for your safety, so that's one less concern for you at least

You can go on bing and type in the SIte name and then add safe site for downloading it has saved me several times. although this is not fool proof some sites won't tell you if your safe.
