How much splenda is too much? Splenda is actually my go to source for sugar when im making coffee because regular sugar just doesn't work for me. However, I was at the doctor on Monday and he's ok with Splenda but said I have to stop putting in all the extra stuff like extra milk, honey, vanilla, marshmallows, and whipped cream.

I would normally put in two packets of Splenda, though now I feel that I need more, and I don't even know how good or bad Splenda really is.

Was two packets in a large coffee good? Would three be overboard?

I actually put butter in my coffee. That's the ONLY thing that makes me drink it and cover the bitterness. It's concentrated cream, really; plus if it's from a grass-fed cow it's super healthy for you.

As for Splenda: it's not "real" sugar so do be careful. I don't know how it compares to aspartame or saccharine, but it likely uses chemicals that might interact with your body.

If you want a better low-calorie option, try stevia. It's taken from a plant and sweetens much more than sugar. However, I heard many people say that it takes bad in hot drinks.

Finally, if you sweeten your coffee merely to cover the bitterness, try putting a dash of salt in the coffee before brewing it. I can't explain why, but it takes away the bitter taste

I see coffee as a chemical like any other.

I'd rather not get dependent or drink too much of it, so I've always had it black.

Since I started out that way, I don't mind the taste of black coffee anymore. It's somewhat good now.

One's an artificial sweetener, and the other is natural and actually has certain health benefits.

I'd definitely say that adding 2 splenda's is an alright amount to add to tea or coffee, though I would not say that adding 3 would be too much. I've done that before with hot coffee and I thought it tasted perfect. Then again I'm not a health expert so I'd guess going with 1 or 2 would be your best bet.
