I wait some six months for a competition that I could actually compete in and you go and spoil it.

I haven't participated in these for a while, let's fix that. VGM competitions are always my favorite, even though I actually won a competition and that wasn't a VGM one. My first two submissions will be resubmissions from an earlier competition.

Submission 1: Langrisser II - Knight's Errand

I'm honestly surprised this only got two points last time. Not that I'm complaining, I'm not the judge. Still, I love this game's music, and this is my favorite (or at least one of my favorite) song(s) in the game.

Submission 2: Streets of Rage - Stage 1

Like I said last time, this is one of the few games that actually lists the composer's name on the title screen, and for good reason. Sometimes I think these guys knew we'd be listening to VGM independent of the games themselves someday. You don't put this much effort into something that's just going to play in the background.

Submission 3: Aladdin - Arab Rock 1

I actually thought I had already submitted this song to a competition, but I guess not. No matter, here it is. The first time I heard this song it was actually in a review of a Famicom pirate of this game, which surprisingly faithfully recreated its stages and music. It also put this song as the "Rug Ride"  level BGM, which I think is a lot more fitting than in the original game where it's just the music to a bonus level. Oh, and it sounds really cool in 8-bit.

Submission 4 - Earthworm Jim (SCD) - Buttville Part 1

I'm really glad this game has an option to turn down the sound effects. I didn't realize there was a restriction of 3 songs per console at first, but that's fine because it means I have to use the Sega CD version of this game, which has much better sound than the Genesis version anyway. Listen to this one the whole way through, it doesn't actually loop seamlessly and I cut it off right after the song plays through.
