I am currently working on a "castle" island, fort thing. I am currently finished with the lobby, but I want to have an upstairs area, but being still new to Minecraft, I need ideas on how I can have a good looking second floor, is there anyone who can help with pictures, links or just ideas for design? 

I am using the Nether Brick, and it would be nice to have something to compliment that brick style, but it would be nice to have one that isn't hard to get or craft, as that could take a long time to make. I can expand the island indefinitely, so it's no issue if I need more space. The only option, that isn't an option is a basement, as I created the island using a bucket of Lava. I will edit this post with some pictures later, but it would be nice to have just general suggestions that I could use in general.

This one is just a test, not the real product, but it is something that kind of shows my style, mabye I'll add a Youtube video with a tour of my house someday.

Maybe if you can, use some sort of a dark colored carpet, that would help and maybe more bricks for the walls.

This is in a Realm... So I don't think you could see it without a video or picture... With the other Castle, I would be wanting something to do, with a staircase and either just an elevated area, or a place that goes on top of the roof... Pictures should be done today, if I have time.

darthyoda : Cool, once I see some pictures, then I will be able to have a better understanding of what could make it better, but a dark carpet should be one of the first things that you put in it, maybe Red or brown if you can get it. That would give it a really good look.

darthyoda : From the front, it looks so small. You know what would make the place even darker and more castle like? Using redstone torches instead of regular torches.

zanderlex : It is small, as it is under construction, so far, I just have an entry area, and I want to have a floor plan, with an upstairs area... That's why I made this thread. Deco and other things will come later, but the redstone torch sounds good!

darthyoda : Maybe put in some glowstone also for lighting. How about a pattern of glowstone in either the floor or roof?
