Ahaha, what's sleep?

Honestly, I really should spend more time sleeping, but I'm a night owl taking early morning classes. Perhaps I should nap during my off hours?

I probably average anywhere from 4-5 hours of sleep on a regular night. I usually "catch up" on sleep during the weekend, but I also usually go to sleep even later then! So, what am I even gaining in sleep? Not a freaking thing, that's what.

Thing is, even if I try to sleep earlier, I'll only stay restless as I struggle to just close my eyes and shift out of full consciousness...and it never works. Ever.

SWTerra : if your mind is racing too much, get out of bed to "clear your mind." I have tried the trick of letting go of electronics and artificial lights at least 30 minutes before going to sleep - I actually lie in bed with my eyes wide opened and no lights on. I usually fall asleep after 15 minutes.

janus : Sadly, I have actually tried that. Unless I'm already just physically exhausted from whatever I've done through the day, I'll stay like that for even an hour, and then some, until I finally just give up and stop trying.

...Although, your comment on my mind racing too much is probably the best overall explanation. My mind is always racing. That's just how I am; I'm energetic, tense, and always raring to do something. I'm one of those people who have a hard time sitting still when nothing's going on, which might explain why I have problems with sleep, honestly.

...Not that it justifies matters at all.

I haven't been able to get enough sleep lately because of me being sock and all. Even with all the sleeping pills that I have been taking, I still only manage to get about 4 hours of sleep a day which seems to make me feel even worse.

BestGamer24 : Are you sure you shouldn't double-check-- *shot for bad Discount Double Check joke*

On a serious note, might you be open to sharing something that actually helps you relax enough to go to sleep? I'd really like to know to help myself a little bit with my sleep deprivation, again if you're willing.

SWTerra: Although it seems pretty hard for you, you absolutely need to clear your mind before going to bed. When I am about to travel (especially on a buddy pass) I can hardly sleep because I am worried I will miss the plain, that I will wait all day long at the airport, etc. Going to bed with something on your mind, whatever it is will not help you get a good night sleep.

One thing that helped me in the past is listening to relaxing music before going to bed. If you are into video game music, there are TONS of tracks to relax to like Omen (Xenogears), the Brink of Time (Chrono Trigger) and Yggdrasil (Breath of Fire III). I also find that staring in the dark (as I said previously) helps me get sleepy quicker than going straight to bed (and trying to sleep) after trying to win jerseys on Tour de Vizzed.

On a normal night I tend to get about 7 and a half hours of sleep, usually bedding down at midnight and getting up around 8. I can get away with  6 hours, but if I have any less than that I will suffer the next day. Apparently Margaret Thatcher used to get away with only 4 hours per night, but I don't believe that!

Recently I've tried to get a little more sleep. These last couple weeks I have been averaging 7 hours of sleep, and it is definitely helping me stay motivated throughout the day. Sure, the first hour or two after waking up do suck, but everything else is better than it was before.

I think I get a nice amount of sleep most nights. I tend to sleep about seven to eight hours a night during weekdays. Weekends may differ. Now I am so hooked on Minecraft that I am getting sometimes no more than five hours of sleep and can not seem to stay in bed longer than 10 am ever now which sucks I miss the super lazy days when I will be in bed until noon.  However, I think that sleeping well allows me to make the most of my day and feel healthier.

I sleep about 3-4 hours a day, one or two days a week though I'll sleep for about 10-13 hours. It really just depends on what I do during the day.

I usually sleep way too much or way too little.
During the week, I am sure I don't get nearly enough sleep....sometimes only 2 hours a night. ^^;
Then on the weekends, I probably sleep 12 hours a night/day.
Multi-voting should be allowed.

I don't really like sleep that much. I feel that it takes away too much time when I could be doing other things. Although, when I actually feel really tired, then I would want to sleep. It's weird.

I get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep on weekdays. On weekends, if I am not busy, I might get 10 or 11 hours of sleep. As a little kid, I always hated to go to sleep and loved to wake up. Now, I still don't like going to sleep, but when I am asleep, I stay asleep. I hate waking up now. Although it usually takes me 30 minutes or so to go to sleep.

Usually I try to average somewhere between 7-9 hours a sleep. Although during the week I probably average on the lower side and on the weekends I try to catch up.

Sleep is VERY important for your health, so if you aren't regularly sleeping around this amount, you are doing your body a disservice.

During the school year, I sleep an average of 7-8 hours a day, which is about average for someone my age (not average, the suggested amount).

However, on weekends it ranges from 5 hours of sleep to about 10, depending on how I'm feeling that day.
