I've played quite a few styles of games from 2d side-scrolling platform, 3d action, fps, rpg, racing and party games. I've also familiarized myself with a variety of franchises and other games. Anymore, games just are not that hard for me to beat. But megaman! Whoa! I struggle with every series this franchise comes out with and every game in those series. I have not beat any of the games. And most of them, I have not made it through a whole level. My answer is yes! But that is precisely the reason I love it so much!

I tried a few Megaman titles and just quit. However your talk about them recently has persuaded me to try it again.

As for difficulty, yes the series is generally very difficult, and one of the harder series' I've found. Still, it has nothing on the early Contra titles. Those were just insane.

But I don't really see why so many people make a big deal about difficulty. A challenge is fun, but what matters is that the gameplay is fun, right? I mean, that's how I feel anyway, and difficulty doesn't weigh nearly as heavy into that as good controls and story do. That's just me though. To each their own.

Eirinn : Basically, it just depends on your taste and experience. For me, I've been looking for a challenge because I've conquered too many games too easily. But not everyone will be looking for that. You are exactly right about  fun gameplay and controls being more important elements to the game. Anyways, if i ever beat megaman, I know that there is something even harder for me to try! Thanks!

Oh okay. Now that I can understand. As you can see, I don't typically try to find hard games (Harvest Moon nut doesn't equal challenge seeker lol), but I can certainly see how after so little challenge you could want something hard.

And yeah, Contra is legendary for being one of the hardest games ever made, and it's sequels (though I've only played Contra, Contra Hard Corps., Super Contra, and part of a PSX Contra title) seemed equally challenging to me, with exception of the PSX title.

Well, yeah... Pretty much the whole point of Megaman games are to be challenging. Try beating Megaman X for SNES. I can beat one level, all the bosses are almost completely impossible even with rapid save states.
