So I got Pokémon Y from Santa Claus and I have collected 7 gym badges and played like 25 hours. Here is the reasons why I find this game disappointing. First at the beginning of the game you get 2 starters, one from this new generation and second from the first generation and then you get Snorlax almost at the beginning too. Snorlax is very durable and it's a very good Pokémon especially if you get it so fast. There are few more great Pokémon's that people are Giving to you, like Lucario and Lapras. So you don't have to think about catching Pokémon's anymore because people are giving them to you.

And another thing is that you don't need to buy items in this game because some random dudes comes to you and says "Hey take these 10 Revives so you don't die in there." and so on. Aaand when your in some cave or whatever there is always some kind random person who heals you so it's so stupid that they even put Pokémon centers in this game because now you can heal your team almost anywhere.

Then there is this exp. Share that is so dumb, it gives all your team experience so you just train one Pokémon and all the others get experience too. I liked the old exp. Share lot more. I have played about 25h and my teams is over 50 levels now, that's just stupid. Well you don't have to grind so much anymore, lol.

I don't find that Mega Evolution thing to be so good that some might think, but I bet it's a good way to get people to buy this game. "Hey there is this new Mega Evolution thing I haven't seen ever before! It's just like playing Digimon, I gotta get them all!"

And about the Gym Leaders, they are way too easy in this game, you can beat their Pokémon's just one or two hits and not even breaking a  sweat. I bet the Pokémon League will be way more easier than before if I ever even bother going there.

Then the Story of this game is the same old boring one, that I don't really bother concentrate to it much. This Team Flare want's to build their own Utopia just like the other team whatever's before. Or just watch the world burn.

Things that they should change in the future to make these games little more interesting.

- First when you start the new game you should be able to change difficulty of this game, because this Kid Mode is way too boring for those who know how to play this kind of games.

- They don't need to make 200 new Pokémon's to make people to buy the new Pokémon Omega X Zero Ultra. Just try other kind of story, not that same old. "Young kind want's to be Pokémon trainer and stops this evil Team Evil from their evil schemes and then defeats all the gym leaders and becomes League champion and so on.

- Remove those healers from caves and where ever they are. And change exp. Share to the way it was.. (Or this thing can be in the easiest mode, so kids wont lose their nerve.)

- Bring back the Pokeathlon it was fun. x)

- I think there is some other things as well but too tired of thinking anymore.

And those who are reading this can give their own opinions about these new games they are making for money ... I mean for us.

Cactuar : I have agreed for quite some time that they should stop making 'new' Pokemon and just add a new story and map. I mean, that's the reason why people keep buying and playing them. That's like what Nintendo does! Mario, Zelda, Fire Emblem, they're all just such great formulas for games that people don't care it's so similar as long as they get to keep playing it in a different setting. The new Pokemon each generation is an okay concept, but it's more annoying than rewarding, in my opinion. The whole point was to be able to catch them all with just one of each version. Now, it's gotten to the point where there are way too many to have them ALL accessible in just one iteration of the title and there are even too many legendary Pokemon. Without special events, it's still impossible to 'catch 'em all.'

On your point with the difficulty, I actually keep forgetting that the Exp Share exists. I haven't used it at all for either Pokemon Y or Alpha Sapphire so far. Even with Snorlax I can tell you that it does make the game better. Without grinding or using Exp Share I do find myself losing to the supposedly harder battles. This excludes the gym leaders, though, since they were still pretty easy throughout. Pokemon Y was the first time ever that I was able to beat the E4 on the first shot, but the game itself wasn't exactly a cake-walk. It was one of the easier ones out there, but without the Exp Share it's still closer to being on an average difficulty level with the rest of the games.

Overall, I'd have to agree and say you have some accurate thoughts on the game. I think I didn't mind the story as much since it was my first game played since Gen 3 and I was just in awe at how great the technical stuff was and all the advances they've made. It would be such a mind-blowing experience to show this game to someone when Red/Blue came out.

Yeah, for the most part I entirely agree with you, but you must understand that this generation of Pokemon games is not targetted at you or me, players of older generations, this generation is targetted at the newer generation of kids that don't have much/any experience with Pokemon.  If they continued to make the games progressively more difficult than kids would have a hard time getting into the games and Nintendo wouldn't get new consumers of their product.  Don't misunderstand me though, I hated X and Y as much as the next fella, being one of those decade long dedicated Pokemon players, the game only lasted long because I intentionally handicapped myself by turning off my exp. share, not evolving Pokemon, etc.

One day Nintendo will understand the concerns of its customers better, and if not, there will always be a ridicuously hard to beat hack of something just around the corner.

You need to enjoy a game for what it is, not what you expect it to be. You'll always be disappointed otherwise.

You don't have to use the pokemon that get given to you. You can usethe weaker ones & train them up to make it more of a challenge. As for training them with exp share, just turn the item off & it gets more difficult since it will take longer to train the rest of your team up enough to beat the next gym. If you're also looking for a difficulty change, you can either go to the gyms underleveled or do a Nuzlocke challenge. The way they designed this game wasn't for more casual players like you. It was for the people who are very heavily into battling. It's so they can get the pokemon they want to use up to the max level & stats so they can battle with them. X & Y were designed for more PvP instead of the PvE that you want.

As for the story, as I said before, you need to enjoy it for what it is, not what you expect it to be.

danielbelitch : Thats right, and it's quite sad that Nintendo has only few famous franchises that they like to use over and over again. Example if I think about Nintendo nowadays, the only games pops to my mind are Mario, pokémon and Legend of Zelda. Seems like they are only making money with these games. So basically they are relying on these so I guess they have no other choice that to stay on these old patterns to make money, because if they try something different people might not like it and stop buying their stuff.. This is only my theory about this.

Ainstrings : That's why it would be great if they make different difficulty modes on these games so those who have played these game before can enjoy the game and same time have more challenge. I just don't see point on buying these anymore when they make it too easy.

Surgiac : I know that I don't have to use my starters, but I'm playing first time this game now and I want to experience it like most of the people who have bought it. And about the exp. share, maybe I talked too much about it but in my opinion it has always been very handy when you want to train your lvl 2 caterpie and your lvl 35 jolteon at the same time, but making it so that you only have two opinions. You train only one Pokémon at time or all 6 of them.. Or then you have to carry only 2 Pokémon's at the time so the experience will only divide with those two, and that will make the game more annoying because you have to use your PC all the time to change your team.

So making different variations by giving people the choice to choose the difficulty of these games would benefit those who like these senseless PVP matches and those who likes to enjoy the story (in these case you can much enjoy it because it sucks) and same time keeping the game more challenging so you don't get bored after the 2nd or 3rd gym leader.

This sounds like I'm taking this game too serious but in the end I can play other games, Pokémon's aren't my life, but it sucks that these games that I have been playing like 15 years or so aren't so good as they used to be, or maybe I'm growing out of them...

And one "funny" thing is that I was battling against Yveltal, I used one Thunderbolt with my Raichu and then I throw ONE Great ball to catch it.. So I didn't even have to use my Master ball.. It was so stupid that I didn't know what to do.

Cactuar : You think a great ball and a thunderbolt is funny? I didn't save before and was wondering how hard it would be to catch. I threw a pokeball at full hp. I caught it. LOL

You guys must have luck or something. It took me a few tries to catch my Yveltal.

Another thing about the Exp. Share. Yes, I usually turn mine off because of the way it works now but I do agree about it being bad that it helps all pokemon instead of just  two. If you like the way it used to work, you could always put the one you're training in front before every battle & switch it out during to give it the exp like the old Exp. Share would have done. Then just swap it with a high level for traveling so that if you encounter a wild pokemon, you won't have to worry about anything fainting.

As I said before about the difficulty, you can always run a Nuzlocke challenge to raise the difficulty. There are charts online showing the most common rules used for a Nuzlocke. I also go to this thread on Marriland for Nuzlocke ideas. Some of the challenges people come up with are pretty fun.
