Hello everybody. I wrote this piece so I could do my part in paying my respects for the tragedy that befell France and Charlie Hebdo. This poem is nothing more and nothing less.

For the Twelve

The words
They spill like blood
Like red ink from the nib of the pen
From the limp hand that once was tight
Onto the page yellowed in the night

The blood
It stains the words
Names called before the fateful moment
Lifeless and empty they become
Returning from whence they came from

The drawing
It leers at the one who drew it
Provoking and enticing, lying and cajoling
They thought it would be clever
Not take breaths away forever

The shouts
They scream against it all
Words cannot be blood, they say
Ink is not our ichor and not a sanguine hue
But with free speech, what is one to do?

Very solemn, and thought provoking. A very emotional poem befitting the event it laments. Well done, Stephi.
