I have been waiting for almost a month to hit this milestone. 

I have finally hit 5,000 views on YouTube! 

Took me almost 3 years and 75 videos to do it, but I have done it.

LOL, I have a handful of videos and a similar amount of views. XD  I didn't grow up in the generation where things like ... posts likes and viewers were important because people weren't so concerned with being popular on the Internet. It's still somewhat boggling to think that people make money simply by talking and acting silly on YouTube. XD

Nonetheless, congrats.  I guess it's pretty cool if you're into it.

Then, I noticed how close I was to 5,000 views when I started doing my streaming when I got my XBOX ONE. So, I decided I would start putting my streams on YouTube to get to 5,000 views. 

It's not a big deal for me. It is just a bump that I have been trying to get over for awhile now.

Internet fame is ridiculously overrated, and I can tell you that from experience here (to an extent)

(As for why I upload videos, I just like uploading fun things I do, it gives me something to do, I don't care if people watch them, they are there for the future. I don't even have monetization set up, even though I'm sure if I cared, I could make some money off it, with a little marketing and work)

The gaming market on Youtube in particular is getting overcrowded, with the next gen consoles coming with in console streaming capability, so it's only going to get harder to separate yourself from the pack.

If the goal is to make money, I strongly urge anyone who reads this post to go about it in another way than going through Youtube or Twitch. Develop a real skill that is invaluable, and make money that way. Not only will it be more fulfilling, knowing you are doing something few people actually can, but it will honestly take less effort than trying to put over your dime-a-dozen gaming streams.

In the end, the only people who should upload to Youtube or Twitch are the people who do it for the love of uploading to those things. Money should come if you get big, sure, but don't make your goal to make money on those platforms, if that makes any sense.

I think the only reason I have so many videos is because I did a time trial of every track with Yoshi on Mario Kart 64. Those each have about 200 or so views after more than a year? 
When I recorded the go kart video, it was a rare staff race on a slow day, so I asked if I could record it. They said they didn't care. So I recorded it, and I gave them a link to it, and told them that they could use it for marketing or whatever they wanted to if they wanted. 

So, between Mario Kart and the go Kart video, that is a good 70% of my views, I would estimate? 


It's not like I got them all quickly. it's been about 2 and a half years or so since I started putting videos up on YouTube.

Personally, I don't really care about views and the number of subscribers. I care about my subscribers, replying to their comments and their constructive feedbacks. Yes, I said "constructive feeback" because it's rare to have something that is really constructive nowadays. I keep in mind what they suggest me (well, I tried to, it's a bit hard though), though if they have some requests, I'll do it as soon as possible. The only thing I'm still wondering is if my entertainment worths something or it's just a boredom (depends of the person, I guess) since I do some commentary while playing. It's quite hard to make decent commentary while playing. For a foreigner dude like me, it's a tough and crazy adventure. And most of the time, people don't understand that fact.
