I've been playing a lot of Final Fantasy lately, and now I'm curious as to what classes/jobs are popular. So, what career do you guys prefer?





For me it's mages. That's not really a specific job, but there are so many types, I can't really choose. If I was forced to choose one it might be the Red Mage. In the first Final Fantasy, they weren't all that great. They could learn both White AND Black magic, but they can't learn the super high level magic. But, I've been playing a lot of Final Fantasy V, and between those two games, Red Mage got a HUGE buff. Now, he can learn ALL of the white and black magic. He can also equip swords, shields, and very nice armor. But, there are a lot of things that he can't learn. Time magic, Summoning Magic, Spellblade, Blue Magic, and a lot more. But, I think he's a pretty good class, since he can be a healing damage dealer.

This depends completely on which Final Fantasy to me.
For the most part I prefer Monk but I also enjoy the power of the Berserker. In Final Fantasy 11 my favorite is Dragoon.  

Wow you're asking a very tough question. I guess it depends on if you like getting up in the enemies face and going toe to toe ( man-o-e-man-o ). Or maybe you like being one of the ones that hits from a distance ( whether it is by spell or by weapons ). Or could be you prefer healing or boosting attributes of the others in the group. There is no wrong choice in any of these but it all goes to personal preference on how you like to play and your past gaming tendencies of character types. 
With that being said for my own personal attachments to types I prefer magic users also. If I had to pick just one I'd say it would have to be the : 

Summoner Class.
For those that are unfamiliar with this class then this is for you : Summoner evolves from Conjurer. Summons have three effects that each can do, chosen at random. Conjurer can only have the two weakest effects activate. Summoner has all three.
Summoner has these summons available: Chocobo, Shiva, Ramuh, Ifrit, Titan, Odin, Leviathan, Bahamut
WEAPONS: Mithril Rod, Ice Rod, Fire Rod, Light Rod, Ultimate Rod
ATTRIBUTES: High strength, high agility, high magic, low HP

Now bear with me but I am also going to stretch this and say my second favorite class as well :
Geomancer - For those again who do not know the class :
The Backfire spell can fire at any time, regardless of Terrain.
WEAPONS: Giyaman Bell, Rune Bell
Terrain - Cast Terrain magic (AirBlade (Forest/Dungeon), Backfire, (Random), Earthquake (Plains), Quicksand (Desert), Rapids (River), Sinkhole (Swamp), Tornado (Sky), Waterspout (Sea))
Defend - Increase defense for one turn Item 
ATTRIBUTES: High agility, high magic

My favorite would have to be the Dark Knight from Final Fantasy 3.

Darthdaishi : Yeah, I see where your coming from. When classes get buffs and de-buffs as the series continues, it's hard to choose one. For example, the Red Mage is the last class I would have put on my Final Fantasy I team, but it's one of my favorites in Final Fantasy V. And Monk is one of my lesser liked characters in Final Fantasy I, but they seem (I haven't had one on my team yet) very useful in V, since they can counter attack.

I like summoner, as well. I haven't tried Gyromancer, mainly because I like being able to rely on my team, and Gyro's rely on terrain, which is fairly random. Summoner is cool, but I switched him out because I don't have many summons yet.

Super Mega Man 568 : Sorry I did not realize you were talking about just one of the Final Fantasy games. My bad I just assumed you meant any of them. My answer still fits in there tho. It's Geomancer , not Gyromancer ( sorry had a good laugh there picturing it as you were saying the class .. very funny picture. )and yeah it's not a character everyone would get into but that's part of why I like it. A challenge that awaits. :O)

The warrior because it's an RPG classic and the swords in Final Fantasy look freaking sweet.

Brain-Splattered : Oh, sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. I mean any game, I meant that my experience is pretty much limited to Final Fantasy I and V. Ha ha, gyromancer.... don't judge me.

Hey no problem at all we all started with some numbered arrangement in the Final Fantasy series. Hell my first two I ever played were Final Fantasy 1 & VII. It was a full four years before I tried any others and now I have played just about all of them ( except the online one and both editions of Final Fantasy XIII ). Oh I would like to recommend you try both Final Fantasy IV and VII when you can and by the way welcome to the fan club. It's all good in the Vizzed hood man we don't judge by game experience. As long as you like games is all that matters.

Brain-Splattered : Yeah... I've played a little bit of II, but then I got caught up in Final Fantasy V. I have also played a smigin of VI, but I haven't gotten very far. I have also played Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (One of the best games ever made, by the way). I started a file with IV, then got bored, went back to Tactics. Yeah, I have a short attention span... But hey, I've been sticking to V. Anyway, yeah. I plan to play most of the games when I get a chance.

I prefer fighters with claws/barehands. They usually have higher attack power and can boost it by focusing for one turn. Also, their special attacks (like Tiffa's) are usually cooler AND much stronger if you can get all of them at once
