Hi, this is probably going to be the weirdest - or one of the weirdest - requests you've ever read. And it's not like I'm proud to have to ask this. In fact, I wish I didn't have to, but I feel I've been avoiding a lot of games in specific genres because I am afraid there might be icky spiders in it.

I have an extreme case of arachnophobia. Like, seriously, it isn't even funny. Now in the Winter, I'm safe, but when Summer comes around, God that's like living hell for me. I live on my own, so no one to scream at to get rid of them for me. And I mean get rid as in put them outside (far far away). It's not because I hate those creepers that I want them dead... But yeah, that IS usually what happens, because my aunt and uncle aren't exactly keen on grabbing them alive either.

But back to the extreme part; it's so bad that I can't even look at pictures of them. Let alone watch movies or play games. To give an example both the movie and the ps2 game HP and The Chamber of Secrets was horrendous for me. Okay, i was like 12 or 13 when I played it, but seriously, I cried multiple times during it. I'm not even joking. Eventually I managed to beat Aragog. After a lot of sweat, blood and especially tears.

So, I would really appreciate it if no one posts a picture of a spider here. I can't even tell you how seeing a picture of them would ruin my day, and it's my birthday tomorrow ;  ; I want a happy day *pouts*

On to the question now; could someone (or several someones) be so kind as to post all the games they know of that have semi-realistic or realistic spiders in them? I don't mind cartoony spiders. Like Alien Spidey or Spinarak in Pokémon. Those are fine.

It's the spiders a la HP and LotR that are the issue for me. Ugh. And I already know from friends that there are spiders in Dragon Age and Skyrim, so two super awesome franchises I can't play. I hate it : ( Although my best friend thinks that I might be able to handle those in... Dragon Age, I believe... or Skyrim. One of the two, I'm not sure which one she said, but there's one where they're - apparently - not as scary as in the other game. Still... yeah, not going to look up any pictures to check it out. It's past midnight here and I'd like to be able to sleep in an hour or so.

But yeah... this fear is ridiculous and I guess people that don't have a phobia can relate to how horrible it really is. I'm not going to talk about how it limits and hinders me in real life because then I would have to write a book about it, but it messes with the kind of games I can or can't play, so that's relevant for this forum, right?

I seriously avoid certain genres because of my phobia. A lot of Fantasy, which sucks because I love Fantasy. Adventure games, hack 'n slash, certain RPG's (like the Monster Hunter series for example. They look so so cool, but 'Monster'... no way there aren't going to be any spiders in there, huh?) Movies too. The Hobbit... I heard there were spiders in it, so I don't watch it, simple. Although I would really like the rest of it a lot, I'm certain. Especially Smaug... I love dragons.

I guess on here - besides maybe on ps1 games - I don't have a lot to fear, because it's not like I'm scared of spider sprites : p but yeah, it's more the ps1, 2 and 3 games in real life. I have a huge list of games I want to own some day but I don't know which games are safe to buy and not. It would be a huge help for me if people can state which games they know of that have spiders in them.

I'm sorry I can't be of much help, I tend to ignore things I don't like. So that would include spiders, although I do have one game in mind right now and it's LoZ: Skyward Sword. They hang off of threads and stick to webs in several dungeons throughout the game. Sorry... Again, happy late birthday(Or really early one). Did you have a good one?

This is a Skyrim mod for PC specifically made for people with arachnophobia. It pulls out all the stops in assuring those disgusting creatures never appear on your screen. If you wanted to try Skyrim, just use this mod and it shouldn't be a problem.

Also, maybe you could make a list of games you're unsure about. That way it would be easy for someone to check the games for you instead of trying to find every spider in every game.

Thebiguglyalien : Wow, I heard from my best friend that there might be mods that could make it better, but I didn't know there was one especially for arachnophobiacs ^^ Thank you! I'm not much of a PC-gamer but as I really want to play Skyrim, I'll definitely check it out : )

As for a list... gosh, I'm not sure. Mostly hack and slash, adventure and RPG's

I've recently bought the ps3 game Dante's Inferno and I'm not sure if there are spiders in there... It's a really realistic game, so I'm sort of worried.

Itachi_4_ever : I think Dragon Age has them. 

Also, you might not want to play Call of Duty: Advance Warfare. It's a robotic looking spider, controlled by a man. Thinking back on it, I don't really know how I got a spider out of it, but it's not that bad. 

And you can play Skyrim. Just avoid 2 places... Stay away from the North where all the snow is... up near Markarth, I think, during the night, in the forest right outside the gates. Also, do no go into the chambers during the night hours. They generally do not show up unless they are the dwarven ruins, but even then, it's a four legged gold crawling thing with a ball in the center. As for non-dwarven ruins? Just avoid snow covered places during the dark hours. 

thing1 : Thanks : ) Luckily Call of Duty isn't the sort of game I'd play. But, I've noticed that when it comes to robotic things, I'm not that spooked about those kind of spiders. Like, in Brutal Legend for example. I haven't played the game myself, but saw some gameplay vids of it which had metal spiders and I really wasn't triggered by it, weirdly. So, maybe it's just when they're realistic that I have problems with it.

Oh, I didn't know you could just avoid certain places : D Maybe it'll be an option for me then on the ps3. That PC mod seems really awesome, but for some reason I really don't like PC gaming, so I'd love to play Skyrim on my ps instead.

As for Dragon Age... is it all the games or only the first? My friend played the first and that one has them, but I don't know about Inquisition for example.

Itachi_4_ever : I'm sorry to hear that I know several people in real life who are also afraid of spiders this probably won't help at all but I'd recommend not looking at the area where a spider might appear in a game.

Itachi_4_ever : Could not tell you about Inquisition, sadly. I went and got the first Dragon Age from GameStop for a day to see if I wanted to get Inquisition for the XBOX ONE, but sadly, it was a little too complicated with all the menus and controls for me, so I didn't get Inquisition on Black Friday.

And you can avoid certain parts of Skyrim, sure. But, you may have some quests where you are going to have to go that way eventually. I think there is a amulet or a ring or something? Something about keeping creatures of the night from appearing as long as you are wearing it. Don't quote me on that. Just thinking of something my uncle said. I may have the games confused, but I doubt that I do. 

I just visited my brother in law, and he showed me Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the 3DS. The game reminded me of this post at the time, so I asked him if there are any spiders, and if so are they realistic. He told me that he hasn't seen any spiders in the game so far (But he's not very far into the game). So as far as I know, that game would be safe for you to play at least most of the game. I'll ask him again after he's played most of the game. :3
