The day I got my emulator I used the same rom over and over so I could learn how the controls work. I figured most of it in ten minutes but was having trouble getting it to save. So I started the game and deleted it several times, each time trying a different way to save the game. I had nearly gone through all the save buttons that I had found when I chose my starter and looked at the Pokémon inside. It was a charmander, female and.....Shiny!

After playing Pokémon since childhood and having not encountered a single shiny at all I was extremely excited. After dancing around like a silly fool I tried every save button I could find. I had nearly finished when the power went out. Our neighbor drives trucks for a living. Usually we trust him to have good driving skills (how else could he make money as a truck driver?). Sadly this was the one day when his focus was...less than perfect. He hit the power line down the road and our as well as a few other neighborhoods lost power.

All I could do was hope and pray my little shiny wasn't lost.

When the power came back on I immediately turned my computer back on and tried to see if I had saved it.....But a lass, she was not to be.

I had one last save option left. I started a new game and tried it. I turned the game off and tried to load it. It had successfully saved. I had one left, one left.

That was the first and last shiny I ever encountered. I have now started Pokémon ultra violet. Just a bit ago I found and caught a shiny pidgey. Thanks to you Vizzed this one is a keeper.

Well sorry to ruin your spirit but there a piece of grass in pokemon ultra violet that makes you always find a shiny.

That's kind of sad, poor little Charmander, she didn't need to die!
But great that you found a Shiny Pidgey, I've never found one of those, and I've found 3 shinies without hacking, so fairly impressive!
