YAY! It's so good,having Seras Victoria as my layout again!!!..Oh anyhow,onto the topic.

You know..When i heard that a new anime series was coming out for the Soul Eater franchise,my brain went full idiot mode.
"THERES A NEW SOUL EATER ANIME COMING OUT!? NFJABFJIWBFIBCSJBSUI!(Don't try to read that.Its just random gibberish i typed in.) OMG! Could it finally be the anime reboot of the manga? PLEASE OKUBO! PLEASE!" I immediatly logged out of Warcraft,went on the seasonal anime chart,and i was..Dissapointed.Like to an extreme degree.

Atsushi Okubo: HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAA! Nope.I'm adapting my spin off series,Soul Eater NOT! (Which,if i may add,barely made it on the charts in the market.)

WHY OKUBO?! WHY!

Well,i have thoughts and opinions to express.I have a new discussion to write,and i need something quick to stall,so its time for me to tell you 5 reasons to NOT watch Soul Eater NOT!..Get the joke?

1.Once Again,This Thing Barely Made It On The Charts!: For those who don't know,allow me to tell you a fun fact. (I seem to be good at those...) Every  month or so,in most parts of Japan,there is a top selling manga chart list.Most charts show the top 100 selling Manga,that have spawned from that month.Some go for 200 (As many up and coming Manga artist,may be able to grab a spot,and make a name for themselves.)

While the first 3 volumes of Soul Eater NOT did make it on the charts,it did...Really bad.It only made it to 104.That's not even in the 100 and below section.And most people speculate that it only made it that far,because of the Soul Eater name.Also,time for another fact.Soul Eater NOT on its own,has only made 2/10'Ths of the amount of money,its original series made.

2.The Art Is TERRIBLE!: The art is awful.In the anime,and manga.Art,and art style is subjective.It is in my opinion,that the anime has very bad art,and animation.Also,Have you seen the fights in Soul Eater NOT?! There awful! Most fight scences from RWBY,look better than fights from this show.And RWBY is a fan made show! (I might even consider RWBY an actual anime,just because it can actually look better than this.On a budget that is SOOO much lower!)

As for the Manga.Well,manga is alot harder for me to describe,than art from anime.Manga has a variety of different styles,and they are MUCH more subjective.I think the art in the manga is mediocre at best,but that ones up to you.Just go through some scans,or Google images.As we all know that reading most manga online,is illegal.Which makes about 92% of the people on this forum,criminals!

3.The Characters Are Bland: The main cast of Soul Eater NOT is boring,and monotone.Sure,they have a personality,but the personalities are stereotypes! Even the original series,to an extent,had a similar problem.UGH! Just let me explain.

I'm the lead female character.I am a bit weak,but have determination to become strong!


I'm the blonde Tsundere.I will be real..Well,to put it in a light term,Bi**y at the start,but in the end,i will love you guys!


I'm the stupid,fan service blob.I have a very low intellegence,but i am likeable. (Which basically describes Ed,from Ed Edd n Eddy,if he was a chick.)


And i do not hate these tropes in general.I'll prove it to you.I'll tell you 3 characters,that are similar,but better.

Maka.Done.These 2 are close to exactly alike at the start.And to Tsugumi's credit,she is made to be a represenation of Maka.Fine,you get a free pass...


Kirino,from Oreimo.This character is the definition of a good Tsundere,although,Makise Kurisu would be a much better choice.(Although,i bet Sop281 would hate me calling Makise a tsundere..Better keep my mouth shut.) What is a good Tsundere? Simple.A character that has Tsundere elements,but still has an interesting psychosis,that you can grow attached to.That's what makes characters like Kirino,and Makise Kurisu good,and what makes characters like Anya,bad.


Tamaki,from Ouran highschool host club.A character who was made to be near exactly like Meme,in every way,is still somehow better than her.There both dim witted.They both need assistance from the main characters to actually accomplish anything.And he is still better..Man,thats gotta suck!



4.It Has No Reason To Exist In The Soul Eater Universe: Not one..Not a single thing matters.The manga at least added some more story threads about the characters.Jacqueline having feeling about her partner. (Fine,thats in the anime) Soul having a brother.All that stuff is interesting to hardcore fans (Like Me.).But after all is said and done,how does that effect the universe..?

How? What did it change? How was it important? It does nothing to effect the original series, in any way.In the original Soul Eater manga however,some things do make a bit of sense,if you have read Soul Eater NOT.As two characters from NOT,make an appearance. I would not have a problem with this series,if one out of two things happened.

1.It was being released at the same time the original manga was coming out,and the things that happened in one series,effected the other: That would have been genius! It would have forced hardcore fans to buy both series monthly,to get the maximum experience.Studio Clamp did this when they were creating Tsubasa,and XxxHolic.And that worked perfectly.

Hajime Isayama does something similar to this,with his Attack On Titan manga spin off series,Before The Fall,and No Regrets.(Which,if i may add,are very well written.I love every single volume of those two series.Possibly even more than the original manga series.Buy that instead of this.His art still turns me off though...)

2.If it was a different series altogether: Be honest with me,does this series really even need to be called Soul Eater...? I don't think it does.I love Okubo.If he wanted to make a moe series,fine,make one.I may even read it. (Although,i will most likely stick with K-On..That is my treasure.) But don't name something Soul Eater,when it does not even need to be called Soul Eater! I promise you,i can spend a whole day editing things from this series out.Change the names,make a few new original characters,and make a new franchise.And i promise you,i would make more money then this! Most moe series are VERY formulaic.If you watch/read 5-10 series,you can most likely make your own original series,and it can just be mediocre,but still make a good deal of money. (Like most moe series)

5.It Did Nothing,But Screw The Chances Of An Anime Reboot For The Manga,Get Screwed Even More: WHY STUDIO BONES?! Why did you even listin to Okubo? The thing that the fans have been begging for,for years,and we just throw it away for some moe? You know,that thing that is available EVERYWHERE!? And takes up A HUGE CHUNK,OF THE FREAKING MARKET! ABOUT 30% OF IT! There are hundreds,if not thousands of moe shows out there.Thanks to K-On,and Lucky Star.That's what happens when something big,ushers in the next big thing.Its the reason why so many shonen have to do with fighting.If you really wanted to play to the trends,you would have adapted a shonen battle series.Like i don't know...SOUL EATER! THE MANGA!

The one where the Kishin Asura is actually intimidating! And does not get destroyed by a punch to the face,from..COURAGE! You're telling me,that courage..Can kill a god..? SCREW IT!

I guess Courage here,can kill a god to,by biting his leg!


The one where Crona is actually awesome!
The one where they fight on the moon.(SCREW ALL THE LOGIC!)
The one with SPARTOI! Which is one of the best shonen arcs out there.In my opinion,even better then Bleach's Soul Society Arc.

The one where Maka gets a freaking Black Blood DRESS! Which is SOOOO cool,and is beautifully drawn!

Oh..I forgot.Okubo put that in the anime,as a reference to fans from the manga..Smart.




Or even something not well known,that deserves to be adapted.Like Psyrin.That is such a good series,and no one even touched it.*Bangs head on desk* UGH!

There,that's 5 reasons.Thank you for reading.And for any fans of the Soul Eater NOT! series,i'm disliking the show,not you I'm sure most of you are very good people.And its not terrible,alright? Its just..Mediocre.That's the word,mediocre.Its like a gust of wind,that had no feeling to it.It just passed by.(Very similar to Hellsing TV.No feeling,or impact.)

Anyway,to end this i would like to ask you-The reader,a question.What do you think of Soul Eater NOT! Love it,Hate it? Just tell me down below.Now if you excuse me,i have to go punch my Asuna body pillow,to get rid of some stress.As i enjoy fantasizing about beating the crap out of characters,i think are stupid.Afterwards,i will hug my Sinon body pillow for 25 minutes,eat some ice cream,walk my dog,and cat,play some warcraft,and cry myself to sleep.See yah for another discussion.*Waves*

Thanks for a heads up, didn't even know about this but hey now I know and now I know not to check it out, I did enjoy the anime (love that opening theme song such an awesome tune.) thought one question. Do they have a certain top hat wearing weirdo who keeps calling people a fool?

BrenTenkage : No,no they do not.As this is a prequel series,and they have most likely not even met our favorite "top hat wearing weirdo,who keeps calling people a fool."

See I wasn't a big soul eater fan from the start (manga or anime). So I wasn't expecting to much when I watch the not series. But for what it was it wasn't as bad as it could of been and I do agree that it really didn't need the soul eater name. This is not something I would ever go and buy but recommending it could be diffrent story because as we all know we all have diffrent like in anime.
