This is the extent of our political system right now. Lawsuits against the POTUS. Will they actually go through with it, I wonder? I'm also curious if Obama will actually force his hand due to the usual deadlock. Frankly, I want him to go through with it, but I know that it would cause some serious repercussions. Thoughts?

The tenth amendment of the Constitution suggest the federal government has no right to enforce laws over the states that were not enumerated in the Bill of Rights.  And neither the Bill of Rights nor the rest of the Constitution allow any provisions for the U.S. government to enforce immigration on a state level.  If you want to talk about interstate commercial activity, that's a different story.  However this is purely immigration, which by definition, the states have their own rights to enforce and draft laws.

States sue the federal government more often than you think.  They take issues to the courts to settle each state vs. the United States.  It happened against the Bush presidents, Clinton, Reagan, and so forth.  It's nothing new.
