My favorite character out of the whole Pokemon anime series is Brock. He can be quite helpful and useful in general and then he has his desperate "I need to find a woman" moments. I love characters show different sides of themselves because it makes them unique in their own special ways. He is one of the special handpicked males who can cook. If I was ever in a journey, I would bring along Brock just because he can cook, gives good advice, and the humor that he brings around people.

I personally do not think that Pokemon should be considered an anime, but for the sake of the thread, I'll have to say Brock. 
He's so funny, and his love for Pokemon is amazing. He's a breeder, if I remember correctly. And, his infatuation for the nurse Joy's are just so crazy, it's almost to the point of stalker mode. 

I have to go with Ash Ketchum. Without him, there would be no Pokemon. Ash is the main character of the show. Him and Pikachu. I wouldn't be watching Pokemon now if they hadn't made Ash Ketchum. I mean, come on!!! Look at him he has defeated the gym in 5 regions (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova). He has also taken part in the Pokemon League. Has any of his friends (Brock, Misty, May, Max, Dawn, Cilan, Iris, Tracy) ever taken part in the Pokemon League? I believe not. May and Dawn were Pokemon coordinators. Brock is a Pokemon breeder. Tracy works with Professor Oak. I don't know about the others.

My point is that Ash Ketchum is the best Pokemon trainer out there, in my opinion. He has never given up on his hopes of becoming the world's best Pokemon master. Yes he has had his share of arguments with friends and even some of his Pokemon. Does that keep him from achieving his Pokemon master dream? No! I like Ash's 'No Give Up' attitude. Without his confidence he would not have gotten as far as he has today. So my favorite character in Pokemon is Ash Ketchum.

It's sad they took him out of the series, but hey he's still amazing! I mean who does love his frying pan joke :3
