why is it that you can't delete anything on this website? you can't delete your profile you can't delete threads or polls you can't even delete comments. i feel as though this cause the site fill up with a bunch of worthless words and closed threads im serious take a look through the board in all the different forms only the first page our two has active threads and polls the other twenty some pages are all closed and completely pointless. so why is it that we can't delete anything?

the way the database works it creates problems actually deleting anything. It causes the whole site to be unstable. Most websites don't actually delete anything when you delete it but simply hides it from view. I think having that option might be nice so that if people make threads or comments that they want hidden they can "delete" them but those would remain for staff to reference and to maintain site stability.

I think it is kinda cool that everything stays here.  I haven't done it myself but I have read posts of users who have gone back through old threads to read up on things and I am glad the option is there should the urge strike.  That said I can understand that sometimes people say things they regret and would like to hide them from some users.  I personally have said things I regret (Sometimes I don't know I should shut up after beer # 8).

fightorace : i agree with that it is interesting to look back on some old posts but at the same time its very inconvenient when you want to create a new poll or thread and you have to dig through all those old ones to make sure no body has already created the same topic i guess what would really help is if they had a good search system so users have the ability to go back and find preexisting topics so that way we dont get any duplicates because i can't tell you how many i made a thread and it got shut down because it already existed and usually look but theres so much to look for i guess just getting rid of them would be a bit extreme because some are very interesting i think a better search system would be better

I like the idea of not having the power to delete. It's always nice to look back on old threads and see its significant history to them. Also, it can be useful when trying to find proof. Staff members are able to put useless threads in their trash can forum if anything.
