All right, most of us have at least a basic understanding of the History of Samus Aran...But I'll recap anyway. When Samus was three years old, her parents-and everyone else on the planet were killed by Ridley and the Space Pirates. Yet, somehow she survived...How is that possible? Not sure, but the good ole' chozo came to the rescue. They saved her and brought her up as one of their own. They even went so far as to infuse her with chozo dna and gave her a special power suit to fight the evils of the universe. She grew up and left the chozo on her quest to avenge the death of her parents. At one point, she was in the Galactic Federation army, but because of a disagreement with her CO Adam Malkovich, she set out on her own as a lone bounty hunter, though it seems the the federation gave her missions from time to time. the rest is video game history...Here's the interesting thing though, in metroid fusion, she was infused with Metroid Dna to help her survive the X. In the course of the game, she destroys the X, as well as planet SR388. My question is...What's next? The space pirates are dead..the only specimens were on the BSL ship...Ridley is gone...metroids are extinct, phazon no longer exists, and the x were all absorbed or destroyed by Samus. Here's my theory, Phantoon. He was the last boss you faced on Metroid Other M. What if he has the ability to recreate all that was destroyed--under his power and rule? What if Samus intercepts a distress signal for K2L (K21 not exactly sure which one) to find that it is none other than her commander Adam. What if he got on an escape pod and it flew him there? What if the place is infested with metroids, X and, Phazon? But how could this be? Samus arrives at her birthplanet. Adam just happens to be taking shelter in the rocks behind what was once her home. What memories will flood her mind? Would she be empowered by fury, nearly broken by grief, or both. No time for emotion--Phantoon arrived!



Anyways, what do you think could be the next story be that takes place after fusion??

You know, I never realized that. Metroid Fusion really could be the last in the timeline. I've just looked up a timeline, and it really is the last.

I like your theory about Phantoon, though I don't really think it could recreate everything. I think it would be very cool if they made a Metroid game where Samus goes to K-2L. In Samus' absence from the planet, it could have been overtaken by unknown monsters that Samus has never seen or heard of before. How cool would that be? Her quest could be to defeat the mother of all the beasts and restore peace to her birthplanet.

Interesting theory. I never really thought of that, but maybe TheFadedWarrior is right. Maybe Fusion is the light at the end of the tunnel... The end of the timeline...

TaySwift13 : I do not know about the rest of you...but that would disappoint me so badly. To me, the way they ended fusion just begs the question..."What does Samus go through next?" Will she be a fugitive, by any chance? I mean, they made it seem as though she would get into some serious trouble...

I don't know. Whatever the future is, I hope it comes out on the 3ds.

I'm not quite sure about the Phantoon theory. Though there's no ruling it out, seeing how little we know about Phantoon and how different sources seem to scale it differently and give it different abilities. I always thought that a sequel would end up being about Samus fighting the Galactic Federation due to them hunting for her. Of course this would give the chance to run into some more classic bosses. I wouldn't be surprised if the Federation tried to remake Ridley in order to have him hunt her. Though, I'm stumped on what the final boss would be for a game about Samus vs other humans. Suppose that might be partially why it hasn't been done yet. They don't want Samus going around blasting at human troops just sent to apprehend her.

name543 : The remake of ridley is an entirely possible idea. There is one complication to it, however, the fact that Ridley's corpse was destroyed in the BSL when it collided with SR388. There is one possibility...With enemies such as nightmare and the security drone on fusion, I cannot help but wonder at the federation's ability to make an elite robot army. Perhaps using some of the enemies from before, such as Ridley, but also new enemies. What if they threw a transformer-style robot in the mix? That should be epic! A transformer-style enemy versus Samus Aran, the most powerful hunter in the galaxy who has blown up entire planets, and destroyed alien dimensions...now that would be something worth playing. As far as the others are concerned, I would feel that they would really have to supe the foes like Ridley up...even showing a scene where Samus is momentarily defeated, but manages to escape. Later she comes back with some ulta-powered weapons to take him down. I see a high probability of robo-creature concoctions like Nightmare. But it will be interesting to see...if we ever even see the next game!
Oh, by the way, you might like to see the bulk of my phantoon theory that I posted in Tayswift13's thread (or as he likes to be called Commander Ridley 10) Metroid, My most fascinating Franchise.

FaithFighter :   Well I suppose that is a problem for Ridley returning. They cloned him in Other M, and by the time of Fusion he's simply a frozen corpse of a clone. I doubt any DNA would be getting around if he was frozen. Plus even if the X with Ridley's DNA did get anything on Samus' armor, she's not going to be exactly giving her suit to the Federation. So I suppose the largest chance we'd have is either them having saved some of that DNA that went into making Little Birdie, or a purely mechanical form with no biological components. Or maybe components from some other creature. And a Transformer-style enemy could be interesting, though I'd have to play it for myself to be sure. If anything, I just hope to see a sequel someday. Perhaps with another remade Mother Brain that actually does give a very difficult boss fight. I suppose Phantoon would be the only boss I can imagine making an easy return. Seeing its appearance in Other M, it definitely has potential to be boosted farther then what it was in Super Metroid. I also would love to see more creations from the Federation. Nightmare went to show what they did when making weapons of war. If that's any indication of what they create for battle, I want to see more of those kind of things as boss creatures.
