Dragon Ball Z... One of the most well known anime (Animes?) out there. Written by Akira Toriyama, the Dragon Ball Series started on December 3rd, 1984, and ended on June 5th, 1995.

The manga itself happens to be both the original Dragon Ball Series, and what we now know as Dragon Ball Z. The only reason we have the Z is that when the Anime came out in America, the full manga hadn't fully come out. When the "Z" Point in the series was reached, the animators talked to Akira saying that the show needed a new name to differ it from the original series. Akira suggested "Why don't you just put a Z at the end", and the rest, is history.

Son Goku, a 12 year old boy (Though he thought he was 14...he couldn't count) lived in the forest, with his Grandfather Gohan, who died when a Giant Ape killed him. One day, he meets 16 year old Bulma Briefs, who explains that she's looking for 7 mystical items called "Dragon Balls", and when they are gathered together, a Dragon named "Shenron" is summoned, and Grants the gatherer one wish! Goku decides to join Bulma on this quest, and meets Oloong (A Shape shifting Pig), Yamcha (A Bandit, with a move called the "Wolf Fang Fist"), and Master Roshi, whom he learns the Kamehameha wave from. He also meets Emperor Pilaf, who also tries to gather the Dragon Ball. He succeeds, but Oloong yells a wish of his own (Panties...) and Shenron grants it.

There is a heck of a lot more to explain, but you all get the point, right?

Characters

Goku A Member of a Alien race called "Saiyans", Goku has a thirst for battle, win or lose! He can go Super Sayian 1, 2, 3, and God.

Vegeta The Prince of all Saiyans, but is somehow always right behind Goku in power. They have since become Rivals. Super Sayian 1 and 2.

Vegito The Fusion of Goku and Vegeta, a Super Powerful Warrior! Super Sayian 1.

Gohan The Son of Goku. He has a hidden power, which is hardly used becouse he hates to fight. When forced, though, his power reaches completely new levels! Super Sayian 1 and 2.

Frieza The reason there are very few Saiyans left. A Powerful Tyrant who tried to use the Namekian Dragon Balls to become immortal. Thankfully, Goku transformed into the Legendary Super Sayian, and defeated Frieza!

Cell An Android created by Dr. Gero. He Absorbs Androids 17 and 18 to reach his "Perfect State". He manages this, but is eventually beaten by a Super Sayian 2 Gohan

Majin Buu A super powerful pink...thing...that almost destroyed the universe before. His most powerful state turns him completely insane, and almost unstoppable, if it wasn't for a Spirit Bomb combined with a Super Saiyan push!

Why hello there, I am a fellow fan of DBZ as well. I have seen the first series second and third. The one I refuse to watch is Kai. I am sorry but that series does not make any sense at all. Also I do play the games as well. dragonball gt may not be as successful as dragonball and dragonball z. But their best sagas was baby, android 17, and shenron if I am right. There are a lot of things people like or dislike about the series. And also of how it feels....personally for me when it his like episode 56 or 57 of DBZ that's when the ending came in with the suspense of what is going to happen in the next episode. That's what got me pulled back to see dragonball z. And also there is more. I could say, but I will end it here for now. ^-^

XmanP321 : Well....this series is meant to be like the original DBZ itself. The soundtracks are just too awful. They cut of like some sagas off. Like the buu saga for no reason. And I wasn't into it really. It didn't grab my attention at all. The only good thing I will have to say, that is it has amazing opening song. That I can listen to day in and out. That was the only good thing about Kai. I understand that they cut off some things like ki power ups and all. But, to make new soundtracks for it? It didn't really fit it in at all. It just sounded plain right weird. :/

They ARE making the Buu Saga, though. In Japan, as far as I'm aware.
