What did you get on your last birthday? What did your mom get on your birthday? DUN DUN DUN Strange second question right there. When I was a wee little kid my great grandma told me to try to give back a present to my mom on my birthday. She even explained why but I was too young to understand but over the yeas as I was growing up, people couldn't agree with her more. I no longer celebrate mother's day. Or father's day. Or really, my own birthday for that matter. No, I am not a Jehova's witness (they aren't bad people by the way, they deserve a little more respect). The philosophy is this: What my mom did for me on the day of my birth is something truly nothing short of a miracle. She held me in her, protected me for 9 months. The least I can do is show her my appreciation on that excruciatingly painful day of her life. Why am I entitled to gifts on the day of my birth? It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. You are born tomorrow and you get gifts. Wtf? Hardly anyone thinks about it but it is true. Why do you deserve the gifts? Return that damn shiny new iPhone 6 or Wii U bundle and tell your parents to pamper your mom instead at a day of spa and massage. She deserve that, not you or me or the president of the US. This led me to think that mother's day isn't special. Father's day isn't special either but my birthday is for the sole purpose of celebrating my mom. Furthermore, I do not need a designated day to celebrate anyone, not my mom or dad. I can make Steve Job's birthday into mother's day if I wanted. I don't need a calendar to tell me when my dad needs his spotlight. This is just me though, close people around me sometimes have different views. I am not so much worried about the celebration of my birthday - people can throw me a party if they want, but I make sure I will definitely show my appreciation for my mom on that day first. What do you guys think? What did you guys get on your previous birthday? What did you give to your mom? Anyone with the same idea that I have? Wow, this is such a plot twist when it comes to birthdays. Birthdays are generally about celebrating one being born on that particular day. Yet, we don't realize how the purpose of one's birth is through by the mother. Not many people realize and appreciate this fact since they focus on one's birth. Birthday = day of one's birth I think it's very sweet of you to celebrate your birthday by appreciating and honoring your mother especially when she was the one that brought you into this world. Not many people would do this for their mother or sacrifice their birthday for another person. I haven't been receiving gifts from my last few birthdays but I don't really care about that. I prefer cards over gifts at most anyway. I don't even get a birthday cake or any other dessert (haven't got one since my 16th birthday) despite of the fact that my parents offered and I rejected their offer. Since my mother doesn't like sweets in general or flowers (she is allergic to them), I buy her sushi as it is one of her favorite foods. If she loves it, that makes me happy inside especially thinking of what I can do for her. It's a way of showing my appreciation to her and plus she gets her whole birthday all to herself. It's always nice to appreciate and treat your mother or whoever helped you grow up to be who you are right now once in a while. Appreciate each time and moment because you will never know what will happen until it is gone and you will have lots of regret. Honestly speaking i didn't get anything for my birthday last year, So i guess that kinda answers both questions doesn't it,. Honestly i do not really care about getting gifts i just go round my mum's house and get attacked by my younger siblings and we chat a little. Call it a stab in the dark but celebrating your own birthday has probably become a tradition as people a century ago certainly would not have the life expectancy rate that we do today. That's why it is such a common occurrence.. It was actually something worth celebrating that you had made it through the year without dying I Will admit that i do not give my mother any gifts when it is my birthday and i do give her gifts on her birthday. I ask her what she wants and if she has anything in mind i try to give it her. But then again i will buy her random gifts anyway. Also do you not think that perhaps the day she gave birth to you was one of the happiest days of her life.. Jus saiyan... Plus when she's older and more frail, You can really show her your love by being there for her and making her enjoy her older years.. P.S if i did that to my mother she would probably get annoyed, I know this is a weird opinion but what if a person wants you to enjoy your birthday and to appreciate the love you get...Rather than diverting the attention to someone else.. Because I'm pretty sure some people could get offended by that. I didn't exactly want to throw any sort of party for my 16th birthday last year. But my mom threw a little family party for me anyway. I ended up receiving giftcards, money, and clothes, lol. And since my birthday is coming up, my mom had just bought me the entire terrarium and supplies for my brand new Horned Mountain Lizards. I absolute adore my new babies. My mom's birthday is actually today. Generally, I draw her something she'd like(such as a lion) and just treat her well the entire day, do whatever she would like done, just be there for her. Today is actually her birthday... I haven't drawn anything up, but I will be making her some Buck Eyes dipped in White chocolate here shortly. My mom's birthday is actually today. I love my mom so much, but i never thought of my birthday like that. While interesting, its a little strange to me. If my mom read this, she'd probably tell me all days belong to her lol
Like squishy, i had a lackluster 16th on purpose. All i wanted was a cheap wallet. And i was cool with that. Like squishy, i had a lackluster 16th on purpose. All i wanted was a cheap wallet. And i was cool with that. |
