I just talk to people about whatever it is getting me down, and that makes me feel better. Eventually, something good will happen and I'll get out of it.

I go to physical activity.  The human body was meant to move and shake and not sit in a classroom, an office, or in front of a television screen or computer screen all day.  I go outside, I do chores, I play sports with friends, I go for a run or walk my dog or do sit ups and push-ups.

Moving has the greatest effect on your mood.  You are one work out away from a great mood and a good day.  People that exercise early get so much done and accomplish a lot with their lives and are generally happy.  Exercise releases feel good hormones called endorphins into your body and you just have a better mood.

Physical activity.  It is the best thing around.

I just find something to get my mind off it all. I'll lusten to music, run, or hang out with friends. Whatever makes me happy.

Depending on what kind of funk it may be, I have to think of possibilities to get out of it, or possibly make it durable until I find some help on to fix it, possibly.

It seems like the thread about reactions to anger is almost the same thing.  At least, for me, the reactions would be very similar.  If I'm in a funk, I like to isolate myself away from everyone and ( I don't think I actually mentioned this in the other thread) I also like to write. Eating, too, is a great way to let off steam (mentally, at least!).

My favorite thing to do when I'm down (or in this case, in a funk) is go bowling. I've been bowling my whole life, and every time I go (especially when its just practicing when there is no pressure), I just feel relaxed. When I'm bowling, nothing else in the world matters for me. Its fun, its exercise (really, it is) and more importantly, its part of my job. I feel like my body resets afterward, and I'll start fresh again.

Similar to tgags post, sometimes I'll even watch Tobuscus on YouTube. He's my favorite YouTuber, no question. Like bowling, it will calm me down if I'm having a bad day.

That's a silly question.

I dance to funky music of course ~

I like to talk to my close friends about my funk and eventually it leads to the most random topic's and that always makes my day.

Also, some good o ice cream always get's rid of the funk if you don't have anyone to talk to at that moment.

I do not know what your religion is. But when I get in a slump I turn to Jesus my Savior. I read my bible and study his word it really helps me to know that my faith will carry me. I have had to rely on my faith a lot as I'm Autistic and sometimes the world can be a nightmare. Other things I do is I like to work on my weather stuff or watch sports mainly baseball and football. I also do things I enjoy such as gardening. Hope this helps I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me

lilythetigerkity :

I guess it would depend on the situation. Sometimes people have a bad day doing whatever it is that they do, but then are able to have a better one the next day. There are times though when rough stretches or funks as you call them can go on for longer periods of time. It can be difficult sometimes to figure out what is causing the problem or problems you might have.

In my own experience almost any time I have a rough stretch where things aren’t going well or when I deal with a bout of writer’s block, the source of it is almost always attributed to some form of stress that I might be going through. I will be honest when I say that coping with stress is something that can be easier said than done for some people, but again I think it would have to depend on the situation. One thing I try to do to de-stress is I try to give myself a diversion somehow to take my mind off of things.

I like watching movies and listening to music. One thing that I have recently done is on my streaming player, I purchased a screensaver that has several fireplaces that play on a continuous loop. I don’t know what it is, but listening to a crackling fireplace is relaxing, even if you don’t have an actual fireplace.

Hmmm... I do one of three things usually.

First I sometimes head straight for my guitar or piano and start writing my troubles away. I usually feel better after I do that. My favorite song I've ever written happened because of that. =)

Second I text one of my friends. Either Tony, Jacob, or Jekiah. They're all older than me and almost always have something helpful to say. And when they don't they make me laugh instead. Surrounding myself with friends helps too.

Third I go and binge eat some ice cream. But that's a given for anybody or it should be.  =D

warmaker : I agree with you, once I was in a funk but when I went to a taekwondo training I cheered up during the training.

Eat something tasty, try to look for new things, clean your room(even that could help), go outside, talk with people, take a nap, play a game, make a poem or a drawing, exercise etc.
Anything can help. It works different for most people though. And even when you can't find something, funks are temporal. Once a new day starts, your mood could have completely changed.

I try and not think about stuff that is bothering me, keep my mind occupied with something, either hanging with friends, listening to music, play some video games, go for a drive, go for a walk. Although there are times where it's tough to get out of a funk as quick as you want to.

I actually have quite a few depending on my surroundings. My first "de-funker" would have to be music without a doubt. If that isn't working I'll throw in one of my favorite video games (COD, Kingdom Hearts 1 or 2, Saints Row 4, or Minecraft) and play until I'm de-funked. Watching my favorite animes over tends to help too. As a last resort, like if I just need to get away or pre-occupy my brain I'll pick up a good book and hunker down for a good reading session.
