In OOT, an expansive Zelda game that took the next step, gave a medium nice story, though it's definitely not bad, and threw us into the world of 3D, plus several other improvements, of which some where never implemented upon the canceling of the Nintendo disk drive and OOT beta, called, Zelda 64.

but unfortunately it didn't last

MM gave us NPC's with real schedules, and LOT'S of side quests, but after that.

*plummets*

Pretty much no more.

No more expanding into an awesome RPG world like that of Skyrim, instead we have Wind Waker, which, technically went backwards since it removed schedules, it also gave us a kiddy graphic style, and TP wasn't very innovative either, albeit, Nintendo DID give us American fans the graphics that we wanted.

But Zelda hasn't improved much since MM, the only game that stepped outside the box was. . .

Skyward Sword.

And Maaaaaan was it GREAT!

I Mean it!

The new RPG upgrading elements where just what Twilight princess needed, and the medals, the potions and even bugs.

BUGS!

It was great.

(Then I couldn't stand a second playthrough the game was so slow and. . . childish. )

*sigh*

AAaaaaannnnddd I watched a video one Skyrim.

Wow.

Zelda could be really awesome, but Nintendo is, (or was, we'll see next game) a bit to narrow minded.

There are LOT'S of ways to make the game more fun and expansive!

battles in the field!

different tunics!

More Medals?

Bigger, (more DIFFERENT!) overworld?

What would you like to see, any ideas? like any, ANY of the above?

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . .

There are many items that always return: The bow with arrows, the boomerang and a few others. Although I like those items I would love to see something new like you said. What about a 'mirror to deflect things and to get a different look at things'? That sounds pretty cool in my opinion.

"TP wasn't very innovative" Say huh? I thought TP was the most innovative of all Zelda games, with the possible exception of MM, as I've never played it really. Sure TP had the same old X amount of dungeons, get the Master Sword, save the princess" and all that, and it had many of the same items (Bow, Bombs, etc.), but any series has staples like that. Take Bomberman for example: You always have bombs, there's almost always a battle mode and it always works the same (with minor twists). Tenchu: you always have swords, you always sneak around as an assassin. I could list more, but you get the idea.

The story though...Fighting the Twilight, going into the twilight realm, rescuing Midna while she helped rescue your people. It had a lot of interesting twists and innovation.

As for the new Zelda game, it looks like it should offer a decent amount of innovation in the series as a whole finally.

Sword legion : Yeah, Link must have new items. It's boring now that the old items returns and rarely new ones appears. The Bow always appear, Bombs always, Boomerang always, Sword (Obviously) and Shield. Now Termina could had a bigger world. Not much more smaller than Hyrule. I want new suits to come. Like a suit that protects you from dark magic that Ganon spells or Cia (If she does it or if that tunic was real in Hyrule Warriors). I want more Sage Medals!! I hope they return in Hyrule Warriors and they make Saria playable soon... but I never got bored of the Zelda series. Because I know there is Master Sword most of the time, but there is a different hero, different storyline etc...
