Different people have different reasons to like or dislike a particular post. No other site has a post rating system with a need for a reason, for the exact reason that many have posted here. It's just not practical.

Also, people need to seriously know the difference between attacking vs legitimately giving an opinion about the post. If a member goes out of his way to dislike any post that is made by you, and nothing to do with your post itself, then that's attacking you using post rating. Mods are not going to remember your post rating everyday. If you really care about your rating and you notice that your post rating is consistently dropping, you report to the Global moderators and they will take a look if there are some discriminatory ratings. One member has reported it before and after looking through the post ratings, I was able to spot some discriminatory ratings, and I was able to put an end to it. You should do the same if you see it significantly going down. Some people here do need to actually be honest with themselves and understand why they are downrated for a particular post and either change the way you post or just ignore it.

At the end of the day, what your doing is trying to stop people having an "opinion", 

There is already a limit on how many likes/dislikes you can give a day and to be quite honest, Like many others here having a high post rating doesn't really mean anything. Especially as it seems people are willing to upvote and downvote anything.

I don't believe that a change needs to be made it's as simple as that.

And you did make this thread because you was constantly moaning that your vote count wasn't going up in chat.. I'm not mentioning this to point out the fact.. It's just denying something that a lot of people saw in chat isn't really the smartest thing to do.

This change has already been suggested and turned down for both this system and the trust point system.

If there was a system it did make sense for it is the trust point system but even then it would extra work for very little benefit.

In the end the people who get down-voted usually deserve it in the opinion of the people doing the down-voting and that is in the end all that matters. These are opinion based systems and either we keep the system and allow them their opinions without screening them or we get rid of the systems altogether.
