This is my story that explains a few things about me, such as why I used to be shy on Vizzed and now I'm not. I hope you enjoy it!

Edit: It also tells how a girl became my close friend. If I had thought of talking about my other real life friends, I would have. I'm still not going to mention them because there's not much to tell about them. =/

When I was 2 years old, I had to get a shot, and shortly after it, I changed. Before that shot, I talked a lot, ate a lot, and I was pretty perky. For a while after that shot, I stopped talking and eating, and I wasn't perky at all. Sometime later, I was diagnosed with Autism. Instead of being chatty with everyone, I had trouble communicating with even my parents sometimes. For example, I almost always made noises when I was frustrated instead of talking about it, because that was hard to do. I kept having meltdowns and banging my head on walls for a long time.

Eventually, I started going back to how I used to be and I wasn't very upset about having Autism until 6th grade. I was really shy for girls back then. In Art class, one of them talked to me, and I could barely say anything. In 7th grade, I began to get better at talking to girls and people in general. Up until 8th grade, most of the time I only talked to girls because they talked to me first. 8th grade was by far the best school year of my life, the most important, and the most unique. In English class, sometime in October I met a girl who sat in my group. I started talking to her right after a crazy guy I knew moved to my group. At first, we just talked about that crazy guy and our school assignments that we could work on with our group. I realized that she was very nice and willing to talk to anyone.

I began to change for the better shortly after that. I wanted to be more like her, but I didn't change just for her. I changed for everyone, even the people that were mean to me. I barely changed for them because they only changed to be more annoying. After I changed a bit, she and I talked about more things and made each other laugh. I didn't even have to say a word to make her laugh. The crazy dude that sat next to me constantly tried to copy off of my work and I usually put folders and binders on and around it. He still tried to copy off of me.

A few months later, everyone (except the teacher of course) had to get their assigned seat changed. English class was the only place where I could do anything with the girl so I got nervous. I still remember that moment well. She had to move to the back of the room, and I was the next person to move. My teacher told me I was going to sit across from her. I didn't act excited about it, but I'm almost positive that the girl knew I was happy about that. Our group contained her, a guy that annoyed me a lot, and a crazy guy that was friends with the crazy guy that sat in my group before. Because of that, I said, "This is going to be interesting."

I talked to all 3 of the people in my group (except myself, of course, even though I did talk to myself silently sometimes outside of that classroom ). I found out the crazy guy was nice when he wasn't around his crazier friends. The guy that sat next to me began to annoy me even more and the girl and I started to be more like friends than we did before. One time, the guy next to me wouldn't stop annoying and distracting me (which isn't hard to do ) while I was rushing to get my assignment done. I didn't get it done before my teacher's timer went off, and Distracting Dude laughed so hard at me. I don't remember what I said to him when that happened. I think it was "Shut up!" The girl and I tried hard to get him to stop. She said to him, "You're
mean!" I don't remember what else we said.

A few months later, every student had to get their assigned seat changed again. That time, the desks weren't in groups; they were in rows. My seat was 2 away from the crazy guy I sat with in the back of the room, and 1 behind my girl friend. (Notice that I put a space between "girl" and "friend". That means we were just friends.) I thought, "Does the teacher keep putting me near her on purpose?" I'm almost sure he did because we were hard workers the entire school year.

Sometime later, it was my 14th birthday. A lot of people said, "Happy birthday" to me, even people I didn't talk to much. My girl friend was the last one to say that to me, probably because the end of the class was the best time to do it. Less than a week later, I asked her if she has an e-mail address, she wrote it down on a sticky note, I immediately put it in my folder quickly, and I said "thanks" to her. We became close friends. She's still just my friend because shortly after I started talking to her, she told the guy next to me that she has a boyfriend. Also, I don't want to be in a relationship for at least two years because I'm truly not ready yet.

Whoa, I didn't expect my story to be this long. If you read it all, congratulations. I tried to make it interesting.

It's great to learn a little more about you man!

I think it's awesome how you've overcome your shyness. You said you just "changed", but it's very impressive.

And you did make it interesting. You're a great writer.

I hope things just keep getting better!

You and I have things in common. I myself have Autism.

My parents knew I was different at age 3ish. I would only talk unless spoken too, but I twirled things a lot. I had narrow interests such as Meteorology and other sciences. I would not talk much, though I could talk when I had too. I was also sensitive to sound and lightning. Some professionals said I had Autism traits but not enough. They thought I was crazy and said I would not amount to anything. My parents worked with me though and I would prove them wrong. Others speculated I had Autism. Finally in 2008 when I was a Junior in college I got the correct diagnosis. I indeed had Autism. I was shocked and devastated at first. I felt shame because it explained a lot. It also meant I was not normal. Since that time I rededicated my life to Christ. I have gotten over my shame. I'm now an Autism advocate. I also went on to earn my Masters.

I must admit that your story was really interesting. Once I read the first 2 sentences of your story, I just kept on reading.

It's nice to learn more about you and it's great for someone to overcome their problems. You're also a great writer. I hope things get even better for you.

First, what kind of shot was it? Like a vaccine or something?

Second, the second half of this post was all about that girl. The first time you mentioned her, in a post a month or so ago, I bought your excuse that you are just friends and you want to stay that way. But come on man. Even if you don't want to be more than friends yet, you know you have feeling for her

Wow, I didn't expect this many replies so fast! I should have, because it's a TdV month

greenluigi : I'd probably be pretty different if I didn't have Autism so I'm now glad that I do

EideticMemory : I know it's very impressive. I never knew that I'm a great writer until I got 100% on an English project a few months ago.

tornadocam : Wow, that's so cool and inspiring!

mohammedroxx3 : Read what I said to EideticMemory.

tgags123 : My mom just told me it was an MMR shot. I already forgot what it stands for. It isn't an excuse and I never said that I never want to be in a relationship with her, I just said I don't want to be in a relationship with any girl for at least 2 years. I knew you would be more interested in the 2nd part of this post than anyone else.

To everyone that replied to this thread: thank you!

Sorry that I am so late with my reply but I forgot about this thread

It's so cool that you told about your life! I also liked that you found out that the crazy guy wasn't crazy when his crazy friends aren't around, some boys I know are exactly the same And you kept on talking about that girl man, I guess she did impress you. And do you have any friends that you didn't mention except for the ones that you told about in the beginning?

I can actually relate to this in ways. I was a pretty shy kid up until middle school. I was thought to have ADHD until I re diagnosed, and that was taken off the list. My little brother also has autism, but the way it was explained to me is that he is on the high end of the spectrum?

Also, the part about not really wanting to be in a relationship until you are 16 ( yes, I did the math ), I would actually suggest. Wait until you are in your Sophomore of high school. Spend you Freshman year focusing on school, and getting ahead on your GPA, instead of trying to play catch up in your later years. Sure, you can look for prospects, but as somebody that graduated high school near the top of his class ( top 10% before I transferred to a highly competitive school for my senior year since I had literally run out of filler classes to take... I ended up in the top 20% ), I did not start trying to get a girlfriend until my Sophomore year. Just take it slow in that department.

juuldude : That's OK.

Yeah, she impressed me a lot and I've impressed her a lot too. Mainly with my sense of humor

Yes, I do: you and my other friends on Vizzed. Later, I'm going to make a thread in which I share how I met my Vizzed friends and great memories they and I have.

thing1 : A few years ago, I met someone that has Autism and is on the high end of the spectrum, so I have an idea of how your little brother is.

Thanks for your advice. I might have to be focusing a lot on school during my Freshman year because I'm going to be in Spanish II, Algebra I, and JROTC. I'm very good at memorizing Spanish words and phrases so Spanish II shouldn't be very hard but I'll still need to spend a lot of time studying for it. Also, I suck at Algebra so I'll need to spend a lot of time studying for that too. JROTC is a class in which you're taught citizenship and other very important things. I believe it requires for each person to do community service at least once so I'm probably going to be busy with that too. If I won't be very busy, I might be in the Yearbook staff just for fun.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
