This is my story that explains a few things about me, such as why I used to be shy on Vizzed and now I'm not. I hope you enjoy it!
Edit: It also tells how a girl became my close friend. If I had thought of talking about my other real life friends, I would have. I'm still not going to mention them because there's not much to tell about them. =/
When I was 2 years old, I had to get a shot, and shortly after it, I changed. Before that shot, I talked a lot, ate a lot, and I was pretty perky. For a while after that shot, I stopped talking and eating, and I wasn't perky at all. Sometime later, I was diagnosed with Autism. Instead of being chatty with everyone, I had trouble communicating with even my parents sometimes. For example, I almost always made noises when I was frustrated instead of talking about it, because that was hard to do. I kept having meltdowns and banging my head on walls for a long time.
Eventually, I started going back to how I used to be and I wasn't very upset about having Autism until 6th grade. I was really shy for girls back then. In Art class, one of them talked to me, and I could barely say anything. In 7th grade, I began to get better at talking to girls and people in general. Up until 8th grade, most of the time I only talked to girls because they talked to me first. 8th grade was by far the best school year of my life, the most important, and the most unique. In English class, sometime in October I met a girl who sat in my group. I started talking to her right after a crazy guy I knew moved to my group. At first, we just talked about that crazy guy and our school assignments that we could work on with our group. I realized that she was very nice and willing to talk to anyone.
I began to change for the better shortly after that. I wanted to be more like her, but I didn't change just for her. I changed for everyone, even the people that were mean to me. I barely changed for them because they only changed to be more annoying. After I changed a bit, she and I talked about more things and made each other laugh. I didn't even have to say a word to make her laugh. The crazy dude that sat next to me constantly tried to copy off of my work and I usually put folders and binders on and around it. He still tried to copy off of me.
A few months later, everyone (except the teacher of course) had to get their assigned seat changed. English class was the only place where I could do anything with the girl so I got nervous. I still remember that moment well. She had to move to the back of the room, and I was the next person to move. My teacher told me I was going to sit across from her. I didn't act excited about it, but I'm almost positive that the girl knew I was happy about that. Our group contained her, a guy that annoyed me a lot, and a crazy guy that was friends with the crazy guy that sat in my group before. Because of that, I said, "This is going to be interesting."
I talked to all 3 of the people in my group (except myself, of course, even though I did talk to myself silently sometimes outside of that classroom ). I found out the crazy guy was nice when he wasn't around his crazier friends. The guy that sat next to me began to annoy me even more and the girl and I started to be more like friends than we did before. One time, the guy next to me wouldn't stop annoying and distracting me (which isn't hard to do ) while I was rushing to get my assignment done. I didn't get it done before my teacher's timer went off, and Distracting Dude laughed so hard at me. I don't remember what I said to him when that happened. I think it was "Shut up!" The girl and I tried hard to get him to stop. She said to him, "You're mean!" I don't remember what else we said. A few months later, every student had to get their assigned seat changed again. That time, the desks weren't in groups; they were in rows. My seat was 2 away from the crazy guy I sat with in the back of the room, and 1 behind my girl friend. (Notice that I put a space between "girl" and "friend". That means we were just friends.) I thought, "Does the teacher keep putting me near her on purpose?" I'm almost sure he did because we were hard workers the entire school year. Sometime later, it was my 14th birthday. A lot of people said, "Happy birthday" to me, even people I didn't talk to much. My girl friend was the last one to say that to me, probably because the end of the class was the best time to do it. Less than a week later, I asked her if she has an e-mail address, she wrote it down on a sticky note, I immediately put it in my folder quickly, and I said "thanks" to her. We became close friends. She's still just my friend because shortly after I started talking to her, she told the guy next to me that she has a boyfriend. Also, I don't want to be in a relationship for at least two years because I'm truly not ready yet. Whoa, I didn't expect my story to be this long. If you read it all, congratulations. I tried to make it interesting.
