Since Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will have new  forms for Groudon, Kyogre, and maybe Rayquaza, and the possibility of new mega pokemon. Will X and Y get an update so the new pokemon can be view in the game. Unlike past game when a new form is introduce it can't be seen from its previous game.  For example Giratina's origin form cannot be seen in diamond and pearl.

I believe Latias and Latios forms are already written into the game of X and Y so they might just have an event where they give out Latias and Latios with mega stones (since there's no way of actually getting them). As for other legendaries like Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza i'm guessing they're going to reveal mega forms for them a bit before the games are released.

X and Y has been getting updates left and right cause of the glitches that were in both games. So I don't doubt that there wont be other updates as well. I really don't understand why Legendries need mega evolutions it's really uncalled for. I believe underused Pokémon need the mega evolutions more than the legends do.

Considering how it was handled with Fire Red and Leaf Green and Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, the extra data is probably already in the games themselves. I do not think the game will have to be updates, just that the extra data cannot be viewed until the games connect for the first time. Other than that, it is very possible, with the update system being used before with Mario Kart 7.
