I’ve been lacking with excuses. I keep repeating I miss gym but I should find ways to get creative and use home objects to keep myself healthy. I did found this prison workout earlier today and want to see how well it works for me since it uses no equipments, tho a lot of reps (210 minimum each exercise).

I've been running a lot more recently, which is vital, since I took a long break over the winter, since I moved, and didn't feel comfortable in the area yet.

My most recent run took me around 5 miles, and I finished it in around 40 minutes. I'm a little out of shape, but I'm still in better shape than most of America, so I can't complain.

I'm making it my goal to get under 7 minutes per mile again (I briefly hit it last summer just before I moved, but only briefly).

Recently have been getting more into the groove from my pre-quarantine workouts. At first I was only walking, but lately I've been doing more jogging and picking my dumbbells back up. Eventually I'll start doing some cardio (outside of that silly little jump rope game Nintendo released, been doing that as well), which will fully encapsulate what I was doing before. I don't weigh as much right now as I thought I did before actually stepping on the scale, but it's still too much.

I’ve been hitting the gym again and actually went to a place for an inbody scan to check my muscle mass, fat, skeletal mass and water weight. I’m surprised that I lost a few pounds the fact that I haven’t hit gym in months. I should really keep a consistent schedule for the gym but eh I’m getting old

You know what. I’m gonna try and see if I’m able to turn this into my own little diary, or rather “fitness accountability” for now since low key want to keep this alive and don’t want it to close like all the other old threads. Even though she don’t come on to this site and such (I mean we still talk on a daily, already said happy birthday to her but not the point), she probably appreciate me keeping this somewhat on life support. I mean whole point is for others to tag along so…

For the past few months I’ve been lazy. Work and such and been failing to do my workouts due to job fatigue and I’m getting soft. I can’t bounce my pecs, my arms are losing definition and all that. Surely I have to get back on track and that’s what I’m about to do Friday when I hit gym. Do Jim Stoppani’s workout and eat a bit healthier, get back to the groove. I am ashamed that I’m not as strong as I once was but things are temporary I guess.

Ever since I got to my goal of 150 pounds down from 180 pounds I've been really lazy about exercise and my weight kinda goes all over the 150s without hitting 160 but I've been meaning to put more effort in so I've started putting in a bit of effort again with doing knee lifts while holding myself up on a machine which I have in my room looking back it seems silly that I spent so much time working out and such and never used the work out machine in my own room. I've not started eating healthy again last year I spent months eating salad everyday for dinner but with me not really needing to lose weight currently I don't have the will power to keep eating salad but maybe every now and then wouldn't be so bad.

Haven’t hit gym in a while and I’m ashamed. I am so sorry Singelli and I should do better for myself. I’m just too comfortable with life and with this heat I’m like so lazy at this moment. I need motivation to hit the gym again

My massage therapist gave me an under desk elliptical machine, because I want to get exercise but I always seem that I never have time (hell I used to make it my mission to go outside early in the morning in the summer when the temps are tolerable so I can take a walk and I won't feel hot or anything), so far I am burning 400 calories this week alone

I also swim on sundays

Been a while since I’ve seen this. I’m sorry that I failed you Singelli. Haven’t been at the gym since October and jeez it is showing with my strength diminishing. I plan to get back into my workout routine in August once I have more free time from work but as of now, it’s just been abysmal. One good thing is that with my job I’m constantly on the move using my whole body to get a good workout.

I managed to finish this week with 465 calories burned on the under desk elliptical, I wonder if I will go further than that next week

Last time I worked out I climbed 3,500 Feet, and I went about 5 miles, but I was hoping to run today, I just don't know when I can because I can't start until 30 Mins after I eat, and I'm eating in 30+ minutes, but I don't want to start at 9:00 PM or later, so, what time should I work out? I was hoping to do a quick 30 Minute work out on the treadmill.

I don't have any weight to lose. I'm "4'9" and I weigh 64+ pounds, in fact, when I go on the Treadmill I gain weight from drinking water. I do want to get a watch so I can track what I'm doing.

quite a bit has happened since I last posted here, on my elliptical I managed to beat my personal best and managed to break seven hundred calories on this thing (this won't go beyond 999 I'm afraid so the day I actually break nine hundred will be the day I have to add a one and a comma to my tracker....yes I do track over the week) and the pool I like to go to is closed for a year due to renovations so from now on on sundays I will walk to Booster juice for my weekly smoothie run.

I also recently bought a thigh master, what inspired me to do this was looking at my thighs and seeing some dents I don't know if it's muscle or if I am losing weight in that area, but either way every saturday I make a habit of measuring my legs (and so far no major change, and it won't happen this week because of some food related choices)

I also have a plan that has every chance of working.

My plan is to study from books about which foods will give me the most energy and absorb knowledge on how best to prepare them.

I plan to actually use the recorded workout programs on the Personal Video Recorder to achieve a good burn, not on an occasional basis as I have been doing but every day for the near future.

I want to get outside and run some more.

I also need to get my lungs checked. Needed it for a long time. I used to be the only kid on a soccer pitch audibly wheezing. I am not a kid anymore.

My neck needs an X-ray to identify problems caused by a previous injury.

I need to sit more correctly so my lower back stops killing me. Develop some better muscles there to make myself stay upright.

This biggest threat to my health right now - amazingly - is procrastination. I have been putting off moving forward with these efforts.

I am lethargic for most of each day. I just eat when I am hungry with no greater plan in play. No preparation.
I exercise sparingly but don't try to make any real progress or spur improvement. I am still breathing but on decreased lung capacity. My neck still aches at times but not a whole lot worse than when I used to sleep on it wrong.

I am delaying getting started because I am too complacent. I tolerate discomfort because I can and it tends to take less of my limited energy to cope but not improve.

I hope someday I will have something to brag about here. It seems it will not be today.

I need to get on top of this within the next year or two.

I'm far from being unhealthily overweight or anything but growing up it was basically impossible for me to gain any weight with how fast my body burned through it, and that has severely slowed down over the past few years.

I'm still at a 'healthy weight' but I'd love to exchange some of it from fat to muscle. My belly in particular has gotten some extra volume that I'd like to get rid of.

So alot has happened since the last time I posted, I have managed to break the 1k mark. I started measuring my legs however I only do it once a month now because sometimes it's just too much work even if I'm just measuring my legs.

I actually have lost weight recently (like last week) but I think I may have sabotaged it because I insisted on having Papa John's with my viewing of Forrest Gump.

I had tried for several years before this to lose weight and hadn't had much success.

However, I hit a new high at Christmas than I had been at since Covid I think and I realized I needed to make a change again. I was 42, now 43, and needed to drop some weight to stay healthy.

I made the goal to lose 4 pounds a month (1 pound a week) for the entire year of 2026.

As of the end of June 2026 I had hit 20 pounds lost since Christmas which is not quite 4 pound per month for 6 months but close enough that I'm taking the win!

I'm hoping to continue to lose weight through the rest of the year. I'm hoping to lose another 10-20 pounds and then stay there long term if possible. I'll still be technically overweight based on something like BMI but I'll be in a good enough weight range that I'll be happy there.

I'm hoping to continue to lose weight through the rest of the year. I'm hoping to lose another 10-20 pounds and then stay there long term if possible. I'll still be technically overweight based on something like BMI but I'll be in a good enough weight range that I'll be happy there.

I think it's VERY easy to underestimate how hard in practice losing weight can be... you can do all the calculations in the world, and then your whole mental state is thrown off when your body just kinda feels like doing it's own thing for the week. You could be doing FANTASTIC caloric-ly but nope sorry you're 2 pounds heavier, because we're bloated on water since you added juuust a little too much salt to that pasta last Wednesday. The cycle of learning to accept this and not deviating, and realizing that calories are better counted on a week basis rather than daily basis, has been key for me to finally pinching off the excess weight.

With that said I'm actually almost close to being considered normal weight now! At my worst in college, during the pandemic, I was almost 300... I'm about 195 now, and a good portion of that is muscle since I do strength training. I absolutely still have some fat left to lose but I'm at least at the point now where I look healthy, just a little bulky (both in muscle and fat lol) as long as I have a shirt on. I think my goal weight will probably be in the high 170s or so - the last few pounds are the hardest to lose, but also have the most significant impact on your appearance. I'm hoping to be finished by the end of the year. I do some pretty serious fasting when I'm fully locked in, unfortunately fasting is not exactly compatible with my protein goals so I'm still looking for the right balance there because I don't want my diet to be like 60% cottage cheese lol.

I actually find losing weight early on to be pretty easy. I've usually put on weight because of bad habits around food. Once I clear those up the weight starts to come off pretty easily. Of course that isn't always the easiest thing to do but I find for the first 10-20 pounds it works really well. As long as you have some self control.

It's the next batch of weight after the easy stuff (which is usually 10-20 pounds) that is tougher. Once diet changes stop really making an impact then exercise is needed and that's the part that I dislike the most. Thankfully my wife is an avid walker and she will take me on 3-5 mile walks around our neighborhood. Sometimes daily for these. That has helped a lot too. It's become almost too hot for them though.

I think the thing that frustrates me the most about trying to lose weight are the days where you did everything "right" and you gain weight or did everything "wrong" and you lose weight. I know that it's mostly water weight on those days but it is still frustrating to feel like you are really working at it and the good days don't show the results right away.
