Well, the playoffs have officially began, and time for predictions. Discuss any postseason action in this thread. Here's the teams that got in:

 Eastern Conference:

(1) Boston vs. (4) Detroit
(2) Tampa Bay vs. (3) Montreal

(1) Pittsburgh vs. (4) Columbus
(2) NYR vs. (3) Philadelphia

Western Conference:

(1) Anaheim vs. (4) Dallas
(2) SJS vs. (3) LAK

(1) Colorado vs. (4) Minnesota
(3) St. Louis vs. (3) Chicago

Should be some great games. As for how I think it's gonna go, I'm feel like I should go with the Bruins, but I feel that the Wings have more than enough to be able to win. We are young and fast, and I think as long as the Wings keep to our game, we can do it.
Red Wings in 7

Next, I have Montreal beating the Lightning. Again, goaltending is huge, and is more often then not the determining factor. With Bishop still out, and with a poor goaltender performance in game 1. I think the Canadiens will be able to win.
Canadiens in 6

The Penguins should be able to beat the Blue Jackets. But again, the goalies are huge here. Fluery has been pitiful in the playoffs lately, so he has to show up, or the Jackets could pull off the upset.
Penguins in 6

I haven't seen much of Philly or the Rangers, so I'm not the best for picking between them. I feel this will be a rough series like it always seems to be with the Flyers, and because of that, I think special teams will end up important here. From the stats I looked up, I think the Rangers have the advantage.
Rangers in 6

I don't think I've seen Dallas play all year. I have only stats to base them off of. But with what I could come up with was that they don't seem like they have been all that great as far as their record goes lately. And the Ducks have done good against some good playoff teams this month. With their firepower, I think they should be able to handle the Stars.
Ducks in 5

Now we have the California head-to-head series. I think both teams have a great chance, and either team that wins could make a deep playoff run. But I'm going to give this one to the Sharks, because they seem to be a better scoring team. Also, they always seem to be a huge pain in the playoffs.
Sharks in 6

For the Blackhawks vs. Blues series, I have a hard time deciding what I think. First off, neither team ended the regular season on a very good note. Both have had some injuries late. Although, the Blackhawks already have Kane back, while the Blues are more beat up. Although I think Miller is the better goalie, I don't think the team in front of him will be able to take down the powerhouse Hawks, although it was a great win for the Blues tonight, leading me to think they have a bigger chance, but I'm trying to keep that out of the equation.
Blackhawks in 7

Again, should be a good series. The Avalanche have been a fun team to watch this season. They have some great energy and don't seem to give up. They were also better on the power play and penalty kill than the Wild during the year. Although, the Wild seem to have an advantage just with the fact that Duchene is out for at least the first 2 games (although, they won the first).
Avalanche in 6

As for further predictions, I have the Wings over the Canadiens. I think that if they can beat Boston, then the Wings should be able to keep it up, and beat Montreal. Then, I have the Rangers over the Penguins. I don't see Fluery outplaying Lundquist. For the west, I have the Ducks over San Jose. I have Colorado losing the Hawks next.
Next round, I have the Rangers over the Wings, and the Hawks losing to the Ducks. And to finish it off, in the finals, I'm hoping for seven great games, and I think that the Ducks will come off on top.

Anyway, glad to see what the few hockey fans of vizzed think about these predictions. Feel free to post your own!

Well,
looks like (1)Boston pretty much dominated (4)Detroit with the series ending 4-1! And speaking of domination, the (3)Canadians shutout (2)Tampa Bay with the series ending in 4-0! The latest match-up that ended was the (3)Blackhawks defeating the (2)Blues with the series
ending in 4-2!

Personally,
I would have loved to see Detroit match up with Chicago in the finals, it is always good to see Michigan in the finals for any sport! However, I have not seen much of Boston playing with the Red Wings,
probably because Boston was already leading the series 3-1 at the time
and I was more interested in the Blackhawks anyway. Glad to see that the
Blackhawks ended the series at game 6, with the game ending somewhat
dramatically and the Blues luck slowly running out. Now that Detroit is
out of the finals, I'm taking the Blackhawks to win it all!

Also,
looking forward to see (1)Colorado defeat (4)Minnesota. They may force
it to a game 7, but if luck is on their side then they can win it on
Monday.

I think (4)Dallas can force a game 7 with (1)Anaheim. I have not been watching the Stars at all this year, but I remember that they showed some promise at the end of last year's season. We will see what happens at 8pm est.

(1)Pittsburgh seems pretty ruthless (from what I have seen) against (4)Columbus. The goalie had 48 saves in that game and the Penguins still pulled out a win. Should be a good game on Monday!

Things are not looking good for the (2)Sharks as they lost game 5 against the (3)Kings 3-0! Now that game 6 has come back to LA, the Kings just might send them home just a little early.

I'm having some mixed feelings about this last one. The (2)Rangers and the (3)Flyers. Philly was leading the series 2-0 from the start, but then the Rangers came back and won the next 3! Seems to me that the streak will run out on Tuesday..but I could be wrong, of course.

In any case, I hope that the final two teams to compete in the finals are
Chicago Blackhawks
Pittsburgh Penguins
With the winner being the Blackhawks.
But anything can happen in the world of sports!

mourinhosgum : For the amount of games, yeah, not too well. I got the Detroit one wrong, and the Montreal one right, and the rest that I picked to win are up in the series they are playing in. It could go downhill for all my predictions, but it isn't looking all that bad right now. And my predictions are bound to be better than the other people that posted their predictions anyway.

mourinhosgum : Yeah, forgot about that one. Too bad that it wasn't a very good game. The series as a whole was terrific before that game. Especially the first two games. Hopefully, whoever they go up against will put up a good fight. I love seeing anything Chicago lose, but I want some more great games. So far, the playoffs have been very entertaining.

History is one period away of being made. The LA Kings were down 3-0 in the series and forced a game 7 and now they lead 2-1 at the end of the 2nd period. GO KINGS!!

Round 2
(3) Chicago vs. (4) Minnesota
It is too bad that the Avalanche lost in Round 1. They kept it close, but they could not hang on to the lead long enough. Minnesota shows their worth to be included in Round 2, but (in my opinion) will succumb to Chicago's powerful offense.
Chicago wins in 6 (4-2)

(1) Anaheim vs. (3) Los Angeles

The Kings are definitely the underdogs in this series, no question about it. San Jose appeared to have Round 1 in the palm of their hands by leading the series 3-0. However, Los Angeles slowly but surely makes their way up, and not only forces a game 7 but winning the game 5-1! Nothing less than a well earned spot in Round 2. Anaheim is not a team to be easily defeated, though, and I'm not so certain that the Kings will be able to deliver against such an adversary, but I could be wrong.
Anaheim wins in 7 (4-3)

(1) Boston vs. (3) Montreal
This should be a wonderful match up to watch! Both teams seem to be equally matched when it comes to offense and defense. Personally, I think Boston has the better goalie and Montreal has the better shooters, but that is just me. I think Montreal can pull a victory in Round 2, but it is going to be very close.
Montreal wins in 7 (4-3)

(1) Pittsburgh vs. (2) New York
Last, but not least, the Penguins face off against the Rangers. Even though the Rangers defeated the better team in Round 1, I do not believe they have the skills the beat Pittsburgh. Philly kept the series close in Round 1 by forcing a game 7, in which I thought they were going to win. But the Rangers somehow squeeze by game 7 and, like I have said before, I think their luck just might run out.
Pittsburgh wins in 6 (4-2)

I would still like to see the Pittsburgh Penguins play against the Chicago Blackhawks in the finals, but anything can happen!

Well this is probably my least favourite playoffs in a while now.

Kings got a lucky break sadly in game 6 with that controversial goal where they pushed staylock in the net.

guess the only team i somewhat like is boston so i am hoping they win

I am not sad at all that Montreal won game 1. I don't think they can take Boston but if Pittsburgh or New York stand a chance then Montreal needs to push Boston to the limit.

Well, there were some great games last night. Always happy to see Crysby and the Penguins lose, especially when they were up three games to one. And with Chicago winning, there isn't a chance for all the games to go to game 7, which would have been pretty cool, but with all the goalie injuries, I couldn't see the Wild getting much further.
As for tonight, I'm kind of pulling for a Montreal win, because I think that will be a better match up in the next round, personally. Although, whichever team moves on is going to have to go up against a hot Rangers goalie. Lundqvist has been a wall over the last 3 games, and if his team decides to play like a playoff team next series, they will be tough to beat for sure.

This is going to be a fun East final series, I never expected the Rangers to make it. Hopefully they can make it past the Canadians with some luck.

zanderlex : With Price out for the rest of the series, I think Montreal is pretty much done. I don't think they would've won either of the first two games with Price fully healthy anyway, but they'd have a lot more hope for the rest of the series.

Anyway, the Kings got quite a bit of luck in their game 2 today... https://d3j5vwomefv46c.cloudfront.net/photos/large/853904524.gif?1400719351

Yeah, without Price, the Canadiens won't win more than one game, if that. Lundquist is playing that good right now. The rest of the team has to be just average, and Lundquist will take care of the rest.

As for game 2 in the Chicago/ LA series, it was great to see the Kings pull away with it. Both teams got called on some lame penalties, but after that first period, the Kings pretty much dominated. I still don't get how the Hawks get so many breakaways, though. They get so many goals by putting somebody up by the opposing blue line, you would think teams would see that by now.

This could possibly be revenge for a few years ago when the Devils beat them and then lost in the finals. Time to watch game 3 for the Rangers, hopefully clips will be shown here at the baseball game.

I still think the Rangers win the series, but Tokarski was brilliant. If he's that good in every game, they're gonna make it tough.
