I can't believe I let it take me.
It had warm, tender eyes. The eyes of a madman. The eyes of a killer. The eyes of a god.
His hands reached out, like someone giving water to a thirsty child.
I took his hand, it burned like the sun, but comforted me at the same time.
He promised me a land without pain, or suffering.
He walked through a tunnel, and asked me to follow him.
My first stepped marked my fate. The second doomed me.
Through the tunnel I felt a new feeling.
I felt as if I was alone.
I heard laughter and cries,
I felt death and birth,
I saw black and white.
Through the tunnel I ran, trying to outrun it.
He was too much. It covered me. It ate me.
For now I am no longer myself.
I have forsaken my land, my world, my life.
I am what I feared. I am but a replica. A shell, made to conceal what's inside.
For what is inside cannot be released.
It cannot be allowed to live.
I am it, and it is me.
I am Insanity.

Man.. I love poetry.  I especially like poetry with a lot of imagery, and with personification.  This is a very wonderful piece and I hope you continue to share your thoughts.  Would you tell us what inspired you to write this?

Singelli : Thank you! I like writing poetry to calm my own feelings, and express how I feel inside. To be honest, it's inspired by my life. Over the past few days I have began to question my own mental health. This is pretty much how I feel about it.

Well I'm not going to use your poetry thread as  a therapy session, but maybe you should talk to someone?

As for writing to relieve feelings.... I completely understand. When I was in high school, poetry did that for me as well. However, recently, I've tried to get back into poetry and can't seem to do it. I find that most of my therapy through writing comes in writing stories or novellas, nowadays.

Nice poem dude. It doesn't sound very cheerful, but it's better than some other people's poetry.
